Thanks guys. Like I mentioned in my first post, i work at the family body shop. We have our own ppg mixing systems. I used PPG Delstar Acrylic Urethane for the "goldish color" on the arms...As for color, I just messed around and bench mixed the color myself. A guy called "RestoRick" sells it on his website. Which is the same thing. He charges $25 plus shipping for just a half-pint of paint. Which is enough to do roughly two sets of arms. So thats not bad. His site is www.restorick.com
This is a little off-topic but heres a few pics of my 35 Dodge pick-up, the 69 Hemi RR, and the A12 Superbee...All tucked away in storage awaiting the day they see sunlight again!
A CRYING SHAME!!!! ^^^^
^^Very odd, this six-pack bee "appears" to be factory two tone paint with side moldings and wheel well moldings...This will have to be checked out before ripping this car down.
Don't worry guys...the original #'s matching 440 is on an engine stand, just cant see it in the pics, original 4speed still hanging in...
Will be updating the photobucket album on the 68 this week. Gonna try and get the body all buffed and get the rear and engine in and get it off the rotisserie. Keep tuned in!
Send those old Mopars down here to me please! Wow, some nice old iron for sure, seeing that fender tag is like wow! How did it get SO bad when the rest of the car is not that bad?
Wow, is that 5 68/69 B Bodies all hanging out in the same place?
And a Hemi car and an A12 car in the same building just waiting to be restored?! Man, what I'd give to have all of those B-bodies!
This Roadrunner job you are doing is beautiful, and let me tell you, if you do each and every one of those B bodies the way you've done this one, they'll all be award-worthy!
Outside of that building there is a 68 GTX 440 Auto T7 bronze #'s matching car and a 68 Coronet R/T 440/4speed Yellow #'s matching car as well. Then if you include my dads cars, then add 3 1965 Coronet 500's....Yeah, were a little Mopar crazy! Thanks for the complements guys. Nearly done buffing, will post pics shortly of the body all buffed out.
This isn't even my car! Its my uncles...I call it my own though because all of the work is mine only. The only thing he has done is fund this project! Plan on taking this to a lot of shows next season, and trying to get my name out there...
Please don't make fun of the fender bolts! We had all the original bolts plated and I painted the care apart. I will pull a few out at a time and paint them then carefully put them back in!
Was bored on Thanksgiving so I went down to the shop and painted behind the grille area flat black. Turned out pretty good (for a spray can job!) Just didnt feel like mixing paint and cleaning a gun!
Beautiful.. Great work!! I agree with you Dave... This whole project resto thread ive seen unbelievable work you all do.. I think all the pros are here!
Thanks guys. Really appreciate the complements. Although, I don't consider myself a pro....I'm only 24 years old and 5 years ago I couldn't even tell you how to mix bondo, yet alone do all this. I've learned a lot over my life hanging out in the shops, and especially learned alot over the past 5 years. I want to continue to get better and I consider this my "practice" car. Next one will be even better, and that I promise...Gonna work on the car a lot over the weekend...will probably have 30-40 new pics up by the end of weekend...
Chose to leave all the original spot welds and wrinkles in the front valance.
I've used about 12-15 different clears, but PPG's DCU2021 is BY far the best I've used!
I now have all of the body color pieces painted. Not quite sure if were putting steel wheels w/dog dishes or the chrome magnum 500's.....Gonna work on it tomorrow too so more pictures will come. Sorry, but I LOVE taking pictures if you guys couldn't tell!!!
