Hey all, i finally got my engine completed and got a chance to run it on the dyno last night. The build was a 383 bored .030 over, 450 stroker kit w/ Ross flat top pistons, Lunati Voodoo #10230703 .494/.513 Hyd cam, 1.5 roller rockers, 440 Source Stealth heads (stock) Holley Street Dominator intake, Holley Street Avenger carb, Pertronix distributor and coil. Compression came in a 9.2:1 so its very street friendly. We broke it in and ran some pulls on the engine. The best pull yielded 473 HP @ 5,000 RPM and Torque was 531 Ft.lbs @ 3800 RPM. The power curve was very strong all the way past 6,000 RPM.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the build, I'm sure i could of gone up in the cam but it runs smooth and should be great for my 4 speed RR build.

Wow,
Sounds great: "The best pull yielded 473 HP @ 5,000 RPM and Torque was 531 Ft.lbs @ 3800 RPM. The power curve was very strong all the way past 6,000 RPM."

Great build!
Thanks for the update on the 383 Stroker build...
Send us some pics please?

Cool! What is the cranking PSI?

Thanks guys, I'll get the pics up asap. It really was surreal getting this thing going and seeing some good numbers. A lot of the build specs came from info and help from this forum, hats off to everyone!

Cranky, I will have to check to see what it came in at.

Very cool! Lots of great street builds going on around here these days!

Cool! Sounds like a pretty stout cruiser and agree that it will be a nice compliment to your RR.

Wow! Super numbers. I want to do this too. Where did you get the stroker kit. My 383 had to be boredvto .060. Have to finish 68 charger with 440 first.

I sourced the kit from a company out of Lansing Mi. called Muscle Motors. They have two options for a 383, a 450 and a 496 kit. I went with the 450 kit to keep it street friendly and avoid having to clearance the block. The pricing is similar to the 440 Source type kits FYI. I'm sure there are other sources for stroker kits but they were local so i decided to go with them. I'm sure i could of squeezed more power out of it but overall i think it should move the Roadrunner pretty well.

Who'd you have dyno it? I'm in west mi and once I get a motor id liked to get it tuned out of the car first if possible.

I used a company in Lansing called Pierce Engineering. They were good to work with.

Dave, your numbers are indeed very close. I'd like to know a bit about your build as compared to what I went with.
