Here is yet another piece of the puzzle. I decided I would like to shift this one.

TR6060 Tremec 6 speed transmission out of a new Challenger. Partnered with a ring gear in the 4.xx range it should be a real kick in the *** to drive.

Some guys have all the luck....damn!!!

Well since 5.7 block are plentiful and 6.1 blocks are not, I decided to go a different route. It looks like I am going to be building a forged 5.7 and doing a single 76mm turbo. I have found a block that I will probably pick up this week. I will start running cam numbers through the sim to find the sweet spot. I am looking for about 600/650 at the tires on pump gas. That should be a nice mellow daily driver friendly build that gets about 30mpg on the highway. Im trying to spend as little as possible on the build to show you guys that you can put a gen3 motor in your cars without going broke doing it.

Big day as the rest of the suspension showed up today and I wanted to post pictures. The entire front suspension replaced by this tubular cross member, tubular upper and lower A arms, stock spindles, rack and pinion steering. It is start to become very real for me now that parts are arriving. I am getting excited

I have it worked out with the site to be a sponsor by offering the gold members discounts. We haven't announced it yet as we were waiting on these kits to be done. I am going to be offering these kits very soon and they will be HALF the price of the competitors.

Count me in. It will be my next year project before the motor goes in.

Well the motor choice was made for me. One of my fellow shops had a complete 5.7 for me for $450 in perfect running condition. I can't look a gift horse in the mouth. so its a forged 5.7 and one or two turbos.

So, i will get the 5.7 in the car, get the wiring done, and start fabricating the turbo headers.

I think you need to move your shop up near Chicago so I can come waste inordinate amounts of time in there....

Keep a good parts list for your forged 5.7 with prices just to keep us all aware of what kinda of $ it takes to make 600 hp. Once my car is drivable and painted that may be my next plan.

By the way, the TR6060 is/was the trans I want for my project but unfortunately out of the money budget. Will be sexy when done!

What I pay for stuff for my personal build and what other folks pay (even getting good deals) will probably be two very different things.

I would say $3500 for a forged 5.7 is about the going rate. That an assembled short block. Heads can be 5.7 truck heads for a turbo build, they are about $400 a set plus springs, valve job, etc. Add another $1100-$1500 for CNC heads. Its the lifters, gaskets, accessories that add up real fast

Ok, I'm startin' to get jealous of the motorvation.

The rest of the front suspension stuff showed up yesterday. The steering rack along with the front sway bar and mounting stuff.

Good luck on your project, I'm sure it will look great when finished. great photos.

Its been a productive week. I found a gas pedal, rocker shafts, coil packs, a timing cover, valve covers, oil pan, water pump, ecm

Dont ya mean expensive, lol? I'm jonesin' for some pictorial updates, when can we expect to see something?

Got a line on a 03 truck gas pedal bell crank box? Dealer says $300 and I don't feel like giving them that.

But sounds productive and as Zack pointed out, expensive...then again at your pricing probably $25 :sideways tongue:

More pictures coming soon. I am going to try to get the rest of the brakes done tonight, hook up the e-brake cables and get the outside for a few pics. Right now I am in parts collecting mode.

$75 for the gas pedal - ebay
Rocker shafts - From Zack actually (gracias:)
Coil Packs - $150 shipped from one of the forums
Timing Cover, water pump, oil pan - bartered for it
valve covers - $50 from craiglist
ECM - $125 from car-parts.com

So I guess it was about a $400 week. not bad for everything I was able to get
