My 64 Polara Gen3 Hemi Build

Some more updates. Getting really close to making rev at this point. I have the hydroboost all plumbed. The tcm controller is installed and just laying in there until I figure out where to mount it. I put a lokar throttle pedal and cable along with a holley throttle cable bracket. I had to re-engineer the TPS sensor from the compushift2 to work with the holley bracket. Not a big deal really, just getting it to track correctly and calibrate was a bit of a pain.

I am not sure I have posted much about the motor. Its a 40 over motor with eagle forged crank, manley forged rods, and ross forged pistons. Its a 10.75 to 1 compression motor. Has edelbrock performer aluminum heads. It has a crane hydraulic roller cam in it (232/238 .583 .566 on a 112 LSA), it has crane roller rockers. Aluminum water pump, Milodon deep pan, and a few other goodies. It has 1.75 headers on it for right now, but somewhere in the near future it will get 2 inch. I am working on the pieces to put EFI on it here in the near future as well.

Wow, that is a lot of new parts in that car! Hope you get it fired up and motivating soon, but first put a grommet on that positive battery cable where it goes through the trunk. Just busting chops, I'm sure you already have :icon_thumright:

He probably didn't, lol!!

Well I turned it over for the first time this afternoon. I had some wiring demons to chase today. My car is an early 64 which is actually wired as a 63 so the wiring diagram I was working from was wrong. I think I have it all figured out. Vroom Vroom tomorrow. I should be able to post some more pics and vids in the next few days.

Sweet! I know you have been building this for a while, it will be gratifying to make that first drive. Good luck with it, looking forward to some action shots!!

I haven't updated in a while so here goes with the laundry list

Car is registered and officially legal
Finished off the exhaust with a custom 3 inch exhaust, X pipe, and magnaflow mufflers
I am still waiting on a front wheel, apparently american racing shut down their plant to move it, so here I sit waiting
Ended up going with a 17x8 up front with a 245/45/17 Goodyear tire
Needed to order rear shock because the ride was terrible. I have some Calvert 9 way shocks arriving next week

Ordered the fast EZ EFI 2.0 and it should arrive next week as well. Not a moment too soon....I HATE CARBS! I am completely at home tuning EFI as many of you know.

I have about 100 miles on the car so far. It starts and runs perfectly (knock on wood). The carb and fuel pump we put on as a temporary were no where near big enough, so I have no Idea what the car is capable of yet.

Greg Ducato over at Phoenix Transmission got me the adapter plate and a 4L80 GM auto overdrive and built it to handle 800 horsepower. It is EASILY my favorite thing about the car so far. It shifts smooth. The car is great at highway speeds the tack says about 2300 in 4th with the converter locked up going 70 down the highway. Seems to get about 19MPG on the highway!

Lots of work left to do. I have a fuel cell coming in a few day (just figured it was easier with the EFI and the return line).
The suspension still needs a lot of adjustment and sorting. I have been playing with the front shocks and their adjustments. So far I have really made the front do what I want, the rear is ruining it though with shocks that are too long for my application.

So all and all I am working on it a lot, making good progress, and enjoying driving it a little here and there.

You need to post the video of the tail lights.....they are friggin' awesome!!!

Ok so I'm moving right along. The ez efi2 is installed and working. I just pulled the motor to put in the bigger cam and the Indy ez-1 heads w max wedge ports. That with a mod man intake.

While it's out I'm going to clean it up and paint it black. I'm going to try to silence the power steering leaks as well. So I'm really looking forward to a much bigger cam, about 50 more cfm from the heads, and 12.5 compression with e85.

So most you that have been following my build know I've been doing the car in stages. This last round pointed out some flaws. I was out of fuel pump. I was starving for fuel under hard acceleration etc.

So here's the winter build up
Fast 102mm efi throttle body
A1000 fuel pump
ID 1000 injectors
Custom efi elbow
Mod man intakes being drilled for fuel rails and injectors
Crank and cam triggers
XIM fast ignition
Ls1 coil on plug
