My 64 Polara Gen3 Hemi Build

It's been a while with no updates. The intercooler and plumbing just showed up and I am off for the back half of the week so we see if I can get the intercooler and the cold side plumbing done. I have been spending money buying up engine parts and sending them to the engine shop. The motor is about 2/3 of the way done, I expect to see it in the next little bit.

"Bout time ya posted something, now we need some pics!!

post your parts list for the engine, I am intrigued to know your parts selections.

(always cool to see what the pro's choose)

Brand new 6.1 block (cleaned up at 4.060)
CNC ported 6.1 heads with PSI 1511 springs
Went with Manley parts , rods, rings, and pistons. Stock 6.1 forged crank
Durabond cam bearings
Clevite bearings
ARP head studs and main studs
BIG dollar ring set (important for boost)
Custom ground cam
S&P headers (custom Y pipe to turbo)
Precision 76mm Turbo
31x12 4 inch core intercooler
Tial 44mm Wastegate
Tial 50mm blow off valve

Here is a look with the weld RTWS 17x10 off my challenger. Still tons of room for tires and a wheels

I think we are going to try to run it off the wastegate spring and see what it makes at first. We are probably going to have to change springs and turn down the boost. Let's say it makes 13PSI on the backside of the intercooler....Should make 400 wheel horsepower motor only + 13PSI @ 30hp per PSI = 390 for a grand total of 790 wheel horsepower.

So I have have all the pieces for the motor. We went ahead and put the stroker crank in it. So 393, single turbo, a1000 fuel cell, and I'm gonna to build the turbo kit in the garage at home.

Still expecting that motor next month. Really getting close now.

About time ya let us know whats going on, lol.

The holidays are my busy time at work. Not really any progress to speak of, just collecting parts. After the first of the year ill have the motor in, cage in, and post lots of in process stuff as I build the turbo kit. Should get exciting again soon.

Lots of little details on this build. Here is one of them. Rather than leave the ugly front cover plain raw aluminum, I powder coated it black. I am going to polish the water pump housing to set them apart a little bit. The ATI 5% OD pulley showed up today too. Never hurts to have the best balancer you can get your hand on, especially when running a high horsepower application

Well the build on the gen3 hemi went south. After about 7 months of trying to get the motor I decide to switch back to a big block and put EFI on it.

Going to run the xfi setup w traction controll. Coil on plug ignition. Most likely a 500 inch motor. Hydraulic roller setup. 4L80 auto, compushift 2 controller.

Nothing like old school bb torque!!! Dont be shy with the pics, ya know we love the ****, lol!!

I am getting ready to dig into the rear suspension. It is getting a triangulated 4 link. Looks like it will all have to be custom though. Nobody makes a pre-fab kit

Check Unlawful racing or RMS, they have 4 links.

So today was a very big day. The transmission, converter, adapter, and controller were all done and ready to pick up. I switched to a 4L80E, 3000 stall, 3.70 gears in a wavetrac diff with a 28 inch tire. This should be a pretty good haul *** combo and still have the .75 overdrive. The trans is built to handle 800ftlbs + so I should have plenty of room to grow. I like the way the trans sits in the tunnel far better with the 4l80 than I did with the TR6060. I can just about put the car on the ground now with no issues.

I think he sold it to help buy a house?

Whats the deal with the 6.1? Thought you had it and there are pictures of it in the engine bay.

Yah, it's a VERY long story. I'm happy with the decision to build a big block.

If your happy, then I'm happy.......now get ta building, lol!!!!!

I am still trying to get unpacked at the new house. In the middle of all that I have all the pieces ordered to make the car run. I have to figure out what I am doing for a gas tank and fuel pump. I also need to buy a master cylinder. Everything else is there though....or will be by monday :)
