My '71 GTX

gtx grille.jpg

Just a tease. It's amazing how fast things go back together when you have a bunch of parts all ready to go. what's killing me is the hardware....every day is a new list of stuff I seem to have missed in the reassembly.

That's gonna be a beauty for sure!

that angle you took of the grille just wants to make you see the rest of the car with it.

haha!!! I have those, but they're in a really dark garage. The trouble with winter is I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.

The front looks very nice! And, teasing is not very nice:no:

gtx rear bumper.jpg

I got the rear bumper together this weekend with LED taillights! just need to be sure I've got some clean grounds, and all should work the lights were bench tested before they went in, one more test before I call it done.

I have a couple of places where the clear on the powdercoat cracked... :( ...but it's better than rusty chrome.

let me know how the LED's work out. were they plug and play...or did you need to change sockets?

Everything was plug and play. ebay seller was Keylife. i'll try to hook up a test battery and get some pics. I have a 240z and did all the dash bulbs in LED and it's night and day difference (no pun intended).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111196475577?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 these are the ones I used for stop/turn...I think i'd get the red version if I were to do it again...the faded plastic in my tails leaves it all very pink.

I also painted the inside of the housings with "chrome" paint (the only thing that stuff is good for)...

Pictures sound great, I changed mine over to LED a couple years ago, big difference and i sure love them, That blue looks great djais, makes a big difference in driving at night, kind of makes you feel like your cars all new again!! :)

Dodged a big one yesterday... I found a hole in the gas tank which had previously been dipped and cleaned. In fact, there were several thin spots. New gas tanks are 150 bucks at rock auto...seems like money well spent.

I'm clearly terrible at updating this thread.

I'm starting to build the 440... .040 over, comp XE268H cam, 440 source stealth aluminum heads. keeping it pretty simple. it'll be backed by a 727.

I finished the brake conversion, SSBC 4 pistons up front, SSBC single piston with parking brake in the rear. I need to plumb it. I was able to re-use the factory bearings, instead of switching to the green ones, and the 3.23 sure grip went in as I basically rebuilt the rear axle. i'm thankful for a safety kleen parts washer in my garage, as cleaning the axle bearings would have been a chore...
