(yes, there's a corvette sign on the wall....all marques are welcome at my house...I have a '71 240z, a '57 Austin healey 3000, a '66 C10 pickup, a ford focus....)

Now it's time to button up all the little exterior stuff. looks like I'll have to wrap the headers, I have about 4000 zip ties to tie up all the loose wiring, then factory ties to tie the wiring to the body. the headlights work, but not the tails...the fuel pump is just strung across the garage floor.

I have to fire it up, and run the trans through reverse and drive, then check the level in the trans. there's 10 days till the first year one weekend show of the year...wonder if I can have some miles on it by then...

Excellent work. I am interested in the rear disks. I have stayed away from the conversions because I wanted to keep the stock tapered bearings, but you were able to use the SSBC kit with the stock ones?

Great looking car. Time to finish it up and get her on the run. Sounded great.

Yes, I was. I got the kit second hand, and had read about the green bearing conversion...etc... and was pleasantly surprised at how everything fit around the stock adjuster. I found the adjuster lock in a small bag of parts, so i have to take the right rear back apart to put it in place.

update:

lots of little stuff...

1. the only issue i've found with the FAST EFI system is getting the base ignition timing down. there's a screen where you can figure out the offset it needs to run base timing, but that screen doesn't apply the offset. you have to go back to another ignition timing screen and set the offset there. it took two starts and set of glowing red headers to figure that out. road testing is next. the car start and runs no problem.

2. tidied up all a lot of the wiring still a LOT to go. The cat keeps stealing zip ties.

3. ordered a plug kit for the floor, ordered carpet, hung the temporary exhaust in a way that'll get me to the muffler shop. let the test drives begin!!

4. I'm debating on new front glass. year one is just a quick ride up the road from me. my side glass is awful, and will have to be replaced. it got etched when the car was getting sandblasted (buncha ding-dongs...other people can't do things right sometimes...)

5. the seats have been waiting patiently for a year to go in. the rest of the interior will be a hunt for ember gold parts.

6. I need to order a decal set

7. i'm unhappy with how the brake plumbing turned out. i converted to 4 wheel discs from 4 drums, and by best guess and pictures from the internet, I plumbed the adjustable proportioning valve behind the stock one, instead of just using the adjustable one alone. I may take it all back apart, tee the front, and then run the rear through just the stock valve. any thoughts???

it's getting there. it's slow, but now i can at least go out and drive it.

i got it on the ground, got the trans filled mostly, need to investigate adjustments on the trans mission linkage... it's mean. really mean... just backed it out of the garage and pulled it back in....it's strong...really really strong...

i'm getting new front glass tomorrow, will toss an easy alignment on it, and will begin road testing.

new front glass, I should order new rear glass while the 30% off is in effect at year one today....

but this....

6 years in the making, and it's awesome. you'll hear me get out of the throttle because it was spinning the wheels. be careful on those old dry rotted tires, guys...lol

Here's a couple new pics after a shakedown in the neighborhood.

i'm chasing that electrical gremlin in the taillights. the first one was that the harness wasn't plugged in...LOL!! OOOPS. the second was now that the harness is plugged in, the drivers side taillight wants to stay on ALL THE TIME.

the car is running well, I have to pull the pickup out of the fuel tank to see if it is collapsed. I'm running fast fuel injection, returnless, with a Walbro 255lph. The fuel pump was making the weirdest noise. (like a cat whining, on and off as the relay cycles it, almost like its sucking air in..., but the float says 1/8 tank....) You guys think I should just pull the tank pickup off and go to a pre-filter??

Just because the gauge says 1/8 tank, doesn't mean it's accurate. Put some fuel in there!

Here's some new pics of test fitting the interior.

I applied a fresh coat of gloss black over the pans and trunk to freshen it up a bit. I know it's not correct, but neither is the rest of the car.

The seat covers are all from legendary, the carpet is from StockInteriors.com. The carpet color seemed to be the closest match to the multicolor faded gold/brown swatch i found under 4" of dirt.

The shifter has an LED light to match the rest of the dash, the bulb cradle was unusable, so i cut one from the dash harness i saved for parts. The dash sockets are the same size.

I think i'm to the point where i'm spending less and enjoying more. I have one more run in to do some tuning on the FAST base timing, and then i'll put a fresh oil change in it.
