just got off the phone with my best friends brother SLIPAPEE (Vic) passed away last night. He was battling brain Cancer. We raced together as teenagers. He had a bassass 66 Chevelle SS 396.
After multiple chemo and Radiation treatments we all thought he beat it.
They put him on steroids and some other medications and it hit his stomach and liver real bad.
He leaves a 8 year old son.
SLIPAPEE was 51 years old.
He had a heart of gold. He'd give you the shirt off his back and was always the 1st to put his hand in his pocket and buy dinner or pay for everything at the track when we raced. :angel7:

Sorry to hear of your loss, Chris. Seems like the good really do die young. As we get older, it seems like we're surrounded more and more by loved ones who die on us.
Cancer Sucks.

Very sorry to hear that Chris. I am sure you have some fond memories. Remember the good ones, He'll be chuckling as you go down the track!
Sorry for your loss

Thoughts and prayers to his Family and friends. Sounds like a good guy.

My sincerest condolences. It's sad to see how cancer takes has no preference when it comes to age- way too young. May he rest in peace.

Couldn't sleep a wink last night. Thinking about everything and knowing I'm going to have to see him in that casket tonite just makes me sick. This one gonna be hard knowing i'll never see him again.,

My condolences too you and his family for the lost,May he rest in peace!

I just got back from the wake.
It was the hardest thing to see, I couldnt go up to see slipapee until the very last 15 minutes.
I cryed like a baby every 20 minutes. The parents saw me and cryed also.kept tellinhg me you two were inseperable as kids and i was always like a son to them.brother and 2 sisters were there. they stayed with me most of the 2 hours there.we talked about the old days and the crazy things we did as kids.
it was hard looking at slipapee, he looked like he was 100 yrs. old.
RIP my friend, I'm gonna miss you!

SSR My condolances to you & his family, I have lost many of my former racing pals from cancer & racing incedents, it is hard to take those phone calls, I would never look in the casket again, I wanted to remember them as they were not as they were when they left us. I looked in the casket at my mothers funeral I regret it allways. I know this sounds disrespectfull but it bothers me that the last memory of my mother was the state she was in at the end not the caring vibrent women she was, she was only 65 when she died.

Hey man, how ya doing with this? There is never the right words. You never get over a loss like this, but you do go on and wherever you go you take a bit of them with you.

Thankyou for everyone who replied and even thanks to those who just looked and lurked.
It's real tough to focus these last few days. He was the brother I never had.
I appreciate all the kind words and it helps, trust me.
I buried myself in the garage today to get my mind off of this tragedy. 51 is way too young.
We planned on racing alot together this year. RIP SLIPAPEE.

I know it's tough but if they he/were were racers they would want you to carry on with racing, are you saying 51 is young wow I'm 51 dose that meen I'm young? "just trying to lighten up the mood a little", no disrespect intended. It's great that you are/were so close to 1 of your racing Buddies a truely good friend is hard to find. Good luck keep on keeping on.
