My brother is, as I type this, at Gateway Classic Cars (Tampa) to pick up the 1973 Challenger in the link above. I'm at home wishing I could be with him to enjoy the first ride. I just got off the phone with him and he said "This is the first time since I did my road test and got my driver's license that I feel anxious about driving!" Lol. Funny considering he's been driving for 40+ years.

40K is a little steep for a 73/74.

Is it a rallye 340 car?

If it is, then if it's well done, it's a better value.

He does. I had a conversation with him last week about cars, clones and what to look out for. He wasn't concerned about matching numbers or clones and I did point out that this car wasn't an RT. I don't think I would have paid that amount of $$$$ for this car in particular but to each his own. I'm sure he'll enjoy this Challenger which, except for a 70's Dodge Ramcharger in the 80's, is the only Mopar he has owned.
 
It's an E-body, they all go for insane prices whether it's a hemi or /6 car.
 
It say's it's got a 360 in it. Did Mopar even make a 360 in 73, I know they had the 340?

73 was a bridge year. phasing out the 340 and phasing in the 360. You could get either in 73.
 
Beautiful car, other than those bumper guards... I’d have to do something about those it would bother me. Congrats to your brother sounds like he is really excited, happy for him.

I am a sucker for B5/B5 so its a nice car. A couple issues, like the hood paint, but it will give him some tinkering to do. It doesn't really become "your" car until you do some work on it.

Goto the picture you want to copy and right mouse click on the photo - select copy photo from the drop down list.

Then goto your thread and right mouse click in the thread ( just like you did the link ) and select paste - it should paste the picture in the thread.
( instead of right mouse click and selecting paste - you can use the keyboard and hold down the CTRL key and press V = that'll paste it too

He spoke about the hood paint last week when he first viewed the car. I just finished speaking with him again and he is back to his home with the car and loved the way it handled. He'll enjoy driving in the sunny south prior to shipment to Newfoundland in a few weeks time.

...but why would you VIN swap a 318 car?

I have to "disagree" on the "you could get either" post.

While you could get a 360 in a C body earlier than a B or A, you could NOT get "either' in a 1973 E body. 340 in 73, 360 in 74 Period.

You could get a 73 or 74 318 powered JS23G "Rallye" Challenger that had all the "340" style goodies including the hood, gills, stripes, sway bars, and even a SG axle (I had one).
 
Beautiful car! But why oh why didn't they paint the engine compartment body color?!
 
I like it. I'd put power windows and road gears in and drive it. It has ac too! Lotta liberties taken, but I would not care.
