My dog got bit by a RATTLESNAKE yesterday

This is my son AJ and his mangy cat, Cartman (aka Catman, aka KVR - short for Kitty von Rottenkat) about 8 years ago just after AJ had his hand operated on to set a broken bone. Catman is wearing a sympathy bandage. My son brought this little beast up as he was the runt of the litter (Catman that is, AJ is 6'2"). Anyway, shortly thereafter AJ enlisted in the Marine Corps and I was left with Flea Feast. Several months ago, Catman developed a large tumor on the left side of his neck that went down into his left front leg this made it hard for him to get around. His mouse quota/kill ratio declined steadily and two Saturdays ago, we made a one way trip to the vet (I came home). Rest in Peace Rodent Terror. He was 14.

Sgt AJ is alive and well. If I can only get him away from Japanese vehicles.

Art; That's sad, RIP.... Cartman/KVR, tell your son many thanks, for his service to our country...

crahill39, sorry to hear that, she will learn sooner or latter maybe, not to eat that stuff,I hope shes doing well, great to see you took her in after Katrina... Nice cone head there...LOL..., my dog Buddy, got hit by a Dodge 1 ton crew-cab dually, when I 1st moved my Pops down to Sonora, running across the street to great another lab, 7 or so years ago, stitches & bruising $350+ vet. bill, he tried to hang himself jumping out of the back of the truck "with a leash on" while driving down, on a windy part of hwy-49, 8 or so years ago, scratched the hell out of the side of my truck by the time I got it stopped, damaged his larynx, $200+ vet.bill, he's had coughing & gagging issues ever sense, he was jumping out of the truck bed, before I could get the tailgate down 2 years or so ago, landed flat on his chin, needed stitches, chipped teeth, bloody tongue, $200+ vet. bill, he no longer ride in the bed he rides in the back seat of my 99 Dakota all the time now, he tore the hell out of one of his back feet running in a creek playing, cut the pad really bad, a couple months ago, $200+ vet. bill & stitches again, then the recent Snake bite $155 & counting vet. bill, Sonora has been rough on Buddy... I'm very familiar with the Vet. bill's issues for sure, but we love them either way, they love us so unconditionally too, my Buddy literally, follows me everywhere, even when I go to pee or ****, he sits in the shower & waits for me, then follows me back to what ever I'm doing or sitting etc...

sorry to hear about your lab.Animals will know if you really love them and will respond in kind,so he should get well real soon.

Man I love this site, the people seem to actually care about each other, even about our animals care & well being, as you can see I'm an animal lover, especially dogs, I like to associate myself with other great people that are thinking alike.... Thanks everyone, Buddy will probably loose one of his Canine teeth/fangs because of the trauma, but that's a small price to pay to keep him arround....

Been away from the 'pooter for a few days... So sorry to hear about Buddy's misfortune! So GLAD to hear he's doing better! A little late, but to answer an earlier post, yes, I do have some experience with this and Mike the Collie recovered nicely. Swoll up something fierce for a few days, and carried the scars and a patch of hairless hide on his snoot til he passed on, but he was fine. He learned to leave snakes alone too...
"The only good snake is a dead snake."
Get better soon Buddy! Shoot, after all he's been through, this aint no thang! :)

Yep my Buddy will get his tooth fixed some how, not sure what they do yet, he still has a few more days of Antibiotics before they do more testing, I don't know if they, try to save it or just pull it... Come to think of it, I need to go to the dentist too, I'll bet mine cost more than Buddy's...LOL...

Thanks; Bear your Akita is a beautiful animal, I'm so sorry to hear he got bit & almost died, isn't funny how they will put their life on the line for us, truly loyal to the death, "mans best friend", you got to love that about dogs... Glad to hear he's OK, I hope Mojo is doing very well too...

Thanks for all the well wishes guys/gals... Lord Budnicks; He's doing just fine for a 15 y/o dog, that has had some stuff happen over the years, he has a few small issues, like with his equilibrium, just falls down ever once in a while for no reason, he's nearly blind/has cataracts & can't hardly hear or selective hearing probably more like, since the snake, but I don't know if it has anything to do with his snake bite or just being old & stubborn... He didn't lose any teeth after all, amazingly & has lost some weight & is doing well, he swims like a seal....
