Well after i sold my 73 satellite i was looking for something to replace it and found one of my favorites. The car is a 64 polara with a 318 i know it needs a 426 but the 318 will have to do for now. as you can see i have alot of work ahead as the floor is just gone but the rest of the car was so solid i couldn't pass it up. It is missing the heater box though so if anyone has one for sale let me know

Those sure are a nice car, even with the 318.. Good luck, Hope you'll keep us undated on your progress!

well i haven't updated yet but been busy with work. I found the 318 in the polara to be no good but have found a 59 318 to put in but was told there are some differences in the poly years is this true. I have not messed with polys before and any info would be great. The one guy i talked to said the bellhousing was different on some ploys. thanks

Don't know much about the them either. Might consider a later 318 (LA).
You can easily google and read the difference between the two as far as components. Not sure on the fit part.

See if this helps explain a little about the differences.. Good luck..

Nice car. Go to the J/Y and pull out a big block out of a truck for cheap.

Nothing wrong with the poly, other than dress up stuff being pricey. The bottom end takes the same parts as the la motors. heads breath well. They make good torq and there a few guys building strokers. I'm going to build a poly with a factory 2x4 setup for my 64 fury vert.

got a little done

well finally got the car into the shop and did a little work. My 17 year old brother inlaw has shown interest in the old mopars so i let him pull the engine out. i have ordered new brake hardware and will tackle that next. new floor pans are going to be coming soon as well.

well have not been on in awhile. Sadly have not done any work to the car either but have been collecting parts. I have all new brake hardware, new floor pans coming and various odds and ends. I got lucky and traded a canoe for a 75 dodge 4wd truck. The body and frame was shot but had a running 360. Well while pulling out the engine so i could put it in the polara i realized it was a 340 not a 360. I was excited about time for some good luck. I know some will say to sell it and put in a big block but i cant afford to do that cause i would also have to buy a push button big block trans cause my wife says "the push button stays" lol. The heads are off getting redone as is the block I will reassembly it myself. This weekend i am going to start on the car again and am real excited I have a new camera so better pics will now be taken lol. I am 26 years old and do not know everything so if you see me doing something wrong please let me know but don't tear my head off thanks guys.

Awesome score, 340's are cool and really difficult to find. Plus parts interchange is a definant plus with the rest of the LA family

Congrats on the new purchase, just take your time, ask questions BEFORE you do something that can't be un-done and take photos of things you aren't sure about before, during and after. You will be fine....:eusa_clap:

I love the 340's! I built one for my 'Cuda (daily driver), but it was a screamer. Surprised a LOT of people with it and it was really well manored on the street.

dont have pics yet but will put some up soon. Got the 340 back had to be bored to 60 over so hope it will be alright.Got a good deal on some pistons off craigslist the machine shop said they looked good the guy said they had about 5,000 miles on them i bought them and the machine shop finished the block after i took them the pistons.I will be putting it together soon. I started on the brakes finally got the rear drums off with the hub puller and tore onside apart only to find the brakes shoes were wrong i got from the parts store lol. I will update and add some pics soon.

heres some pics of the new chrysler red paint. The bottom end is all together now. except for oil pan i need to clean and paint it

well i got the engine bay sanded and primed i used a little spot sandblasting gun on the rust areas and sand paper on the rest. There are couple little rust holes i have to fix but nothing to bad i wanted to get it in primer so it wouldnt rust though. When i do paint it i will drop the k member out of the way and clean and paint it as well.

I also put the engine together a little more but am waiting on getting the oil pan and valve covers blasted so i can paint them and put them on. The motor has 10.5 pistons j heads with 2.02 valves aluminum intake and a mopar 484 cam. The converter is a 2500 stall does this sound like a good combo not really looking for break neck speeds lol but just a little extra. Also work rear end gears would work best i wont go to the strip much and will likely drive the car a bunch on the the highway i was thinking about 3.55s. Thanks guys
