Name a hated car that you wouldn't mind owning.

I liked the Ford Fairmonts too. I remember some art in a hot rod mag where one was tricked out. It looked good. This isn't it though.

That Mirada is the cat's azz too.

How bout a ‘71 Maverick Grabber. A 351 Cleveland and a 4 speed bolt in. If you wanted to throw $’s at it… a newer 5.0 Coyote. :D
Those are too nice to bang around. I was thinking a daily driver when I answered. Shows my lack of attention, lol.

They’re like Darts and Dusters… they were throwaway cars in the late 80’s when I worked a junkyard. My job was to bring the cars to the crusher with an articulated loader. For fun I’d count different cars on my list that went through the crusher. One day, in one junkyard we put 18 Mavericks through the thing. No one cared about them then.

The neighbor had a fiat like this in the 80s. I had never seen a car w such light sheetmetal and man did they rust. Dad would borrow the neighbors because you could drive in the back of a grain truck and it was so narrow the doors on both sides would open and you could get in. I think they drove out of the truck on 2×12s. I remember the obnoxious noise riding home in it 120 miles. Must have had a 1" muffler. This one is on a sale this month in western Nebraska. It was overall the worse car I have ever rode in...and I don't think many survived the salt. So I would own one just to remember how superior our mopars are, and the nostalgia of Dad borrowing it. It got lousy gas mileage too.Lol

...on second thought. I think I will pass. The nostalgia of seeing it is enough.

And I’ll add, this car seems to be a love it or hate it kind of car, as is the 66 Barracuda. Most people dont even know what it is, because it does not say Valiant anywhere on it, just Signet. When someone likes it, they think it’s really cool, when someone doesn’t, they hate it through and through!

If I were a car, I would be one of these, not the high end GTX that occupies my garage. Lucky for me, my wife liked quirky when it came to her mate.

A pacer wagon, wood side applique, plaid interior, WON one off the Pinks all out shows, with a girl driver.

427"LS from a Z06 for power. Mid tens quarter.

I remember when the Mavericks came out. They were advertised as having the look but not the crazy power and high insurance rates.

The kool thing about them is it’s basically a Falcon… Mustang… Grenada… Versailles. Probably not easy to find now but the 9” rear with disk brakes was a bolt in. As is all Mustang up to ‘73 suspension.

Speaking of the “Granada”… this was kool build as they left it stock looking with the hubcaps. :D

I always thought the X’s were all big V-8 cars. But seen an original X this a straight 6 at car show recently.
Mom and Dad had a baby blue I-6, 3 spd, with Levi Strauss denim seats. Aunt and uncle had a matching jeep.

These are giant cars trying to pass off as sporty luxury:

But then some years later I saw this one in the movie "The Crow":

Then I wanted to build one. Something about a 10 foot long hood with a 3 foot tall Magnuson sticking out of it called to me as a young man.

For the record, I really do like older Tbirds. Like a 67, or the older still bullet birds. The 70''s Ford cars were the deffinition of bad performance and ugly design in my opinion in stock trim. Lot of people dressed them up and made them into something totally different, and that sentiment carried on for another 20 years after with the fox cars.
