In a couple of months I'm going to start a restoration project on my 68 charger. I'm looking for some advice and tips on the best way to tag all the parts that will be coming off the car. I plan on taking lots of pictures to help me remember where things go back together but any advice or input you guys can give me would be helpful. Thanks

I take pictures and label all the bags with the bolts and nuts that I put the parts in. It's worked well for me

All the parts sure take up alot of room, so Plenty of bags, boxes, and shelves. Someone to help label, take photos, and write down notes is really helpful.
Don't overlook writing down notes on the condition of parts, or noting missing and broken parts so you know what parts to be looking for. Also, note if screw holes are loose, wrong size, or broken, ect so they can be fixed before painting the car.
I would also recommend removing the engine, transmission and K-Member as a unit just so you don't have even more bags og bolts laying around.

ditto! bag, tag, photo. list how it came apart. it will go a lot better going back together. good luck.

Yep, bag and tag worked great for me, when I was done, all my bags were empty, except for the ones where I replaced the nut, bolt, or clip, but I noted that on the bag. One thing you might do for all the bags of stuff, is get several small boxes and mark for interior, body, engine, engine bay, and doors. This way you don't have to look through all of the bags when you put back together, just go the box for the group of parts you need.

I also use the trunk as a place to store bags, tags, bolts, and parts.

yep bag and tag every thing possible worked for me

Lots of bags and tags but being someone who just finished my 69 Charger I would have taken allot more detailed pics and drawings of how certain things looked (the rear quarter window assembly and some of the goofy brackets that you may forget where they went come to mind). Allot of time was wasted on my car just trying to figure out what went where seeing how it was apart for 10 years. Good luck, even if you miss something it's not to bad to figure out with the guys here at FBBO.

x2 on what 747 said, pics pics and more pics. I bought my Charger fully disassembled, luckily the guy bagged and taghed 80/90% of it, but if it were me I would've taken pics of how everything was put together, what went where, etc. And after bagging and tagging I would probably have separated them all into small boxes according to individual projects/ areas of the car you will be doing at one time ("headliner" would be an example).

And I'd probably also leave a few things removed from the car but still fully assembled until you're actually ready to tackle those individual jobs, like was mentioned the front suspension/k frame, dash, grille, console etc. Don't be the guy that completely tears everything down 110%, gets lost in the mountain of parts and gives up haha. Good luck with the project and keep us posted, let's see some pics!
