I have a 68 satellite and i'm putting in a new rug. Does anyone have any suggestions for an under rug pad that will do the best job of insulating noise and heat?

thanks in advance!

Check out the Eastwood site, or Year One. We have a local supply house for several different kinds of jute padding here in Detroit, maybe do some Google searches locally.

Dynamat and Hushmat are the two big names out there. Me, I am a cheap bass turd. I used some stuff called Peel n Seal. Got it at Lowe's......

If you are thinking of going the Dyanmat route, check out FatMat on eBay. Great product and less than half the prce. 100sq feet for $160 did my full floors, doors and cowl. They sell smaller rolls too.

fatmat

If you go directly to the fatmat site you can buy the entire mat kit (100 SQ FT) with free shipping for $129.

Rev, a buddy of mine owns an upholstery shop here in town, they've been in business for over 50 yrs, and he uses the same stuff. Does a lot of high end work, and when he needs hush stuff, he just hits Lowes or his local True Value. Sure saves a lot of money. If I'm remembering right, it's an insulator for roofing?

Yeah, it's for sealing around flashing and stuff like that.

Hmmmm... Cool. I will need to add some to my interior surfaces. Scott I'm glad you started this thread and thanks to everyone with the answers. I have been trying to find an alternative to Dynamat myself. I have also heard that rubberized under chassis spray helps deaden noise and heat transfer if used on top of the mat... I will probably try both the mat and spray on most of my inner body skins... I don't mind 15 extra pounds in my car since I'm not out for the fastest E.T.
