That's pretty funny, what is it with women and cars? When my wife complains about it I just tell her I could be like allot of guys, out drinking, cheating, getting high or getting into trouble. At least my hobby is constructive and benefits her as well "she gets new cars (totaled) for dirt cheap. Ultimatives are never a good idea, even if you wanted to keep the girl the fact that they put you in that position is reason enough. Rock on, now go make love to that car.

I guess I am lucky in that regard. My wife has never bitched about the time I spend on my car. She actually encourages me to do it and loves going cruising and to shows. Even when I didn't have a Mopar to work on, we still went to shows and so forth. She never says anything about the time or money spent, as long as there is enough to feed us and pay the bills. Hell, she has bought me parts and goodies that I wouldn't buy for myself, even if I really wanted it. Any woman who gives ultimatives for any reason is not the woman for any of us or for any man, the way I see it. Go out there and find you a good woman, they are out there. Easy to find? No, but the search is a big part of the fun. Enjoy that Mopar and the fun your gonna have checking out all the women out there....GO BOY.

You definitely made the right choice. My wife complains a tiny bit about my car hobby, but if a woman said something like yours did to me - I would be gone. If she was like that as a girlfriend, it would have been even worse as time went on if you married her.

Although love is hard to find, so I'm sure it was a debate in your head - at first. You may never find a woman as crazy about cars as we are (although there are a few on this site), but at least find one that will tolerate it and not say some crap like that.

My girlfriend lives 90 miles away. See each other on weekends and whenever she is off from work. I work on mine during the week as long as my medical issues don't act up. I always have something in the house for the car.

Yeah, there's a few of us out there. But I guess I'm one of the rare ones who agrees with the original poster and, if put in that same position by a guy, would tell him to go pizz up a rope too. The right girl is out there. As you go through the dating thing, make notes of what could be improved in each relationship. Any of the more serious girlfriends I've had loved muscle cars and rat rods. Back when I played in bands, I knew a lot of guys that either couldn't play in a band or couldn't tour because of girls. Look for someone who supports your interests, but, also encourage them to do things. A lot of girls don't have hobbies. Show them how to do something that you like doing. It gives anyone a sense of acomplishment to say 'I did...' And that makes them feel better, and they associate feeling better with you.
