Never was a big fan of Ali.......

Greatest fighter that ever lived. As for Tyson - Ali would have beaten him in a similar way to what he did to Foreman. Marciano was a light heavy so they wouldn't have even fought. Ali took all comers and fought them all the way.

Ali

No doubt numerous blows to the head affected his thinking. Then again there wasn't much there to begin with....

Ali vs Tyson...lightning speed against mean raw brute strength. Would have been a hell of a fight! My bet would be on Ali.

Ali had both. In his prime, he could knock a guy out with his jab while moving backwards. He had tremendous punching power. Tyson was one dimensional. He came straight in and would have never been able to counter the finesse, movement, boxing skill & power of Ali. Anyone who knows anything about Boxing knows that Tyson would have been beaten badly.

Keep in mind he got up rather quickly and then proceeded to beat Joe in their next 2 fights. Come to think of it, in their last fight, Joe sat on his butt after round 14 and quit! He couldn't continue after being beat soundly by Ali. (lol) Here's another example of the superior speed that guys like Joe Frazier just couldn't handle.

No one has talked much about George Foreman. Probably my most favorite athlete. A good person and a great role model...........................MO

George turned out to be a great human being and role model. Far from what he was back in the day. He was an angry young fighter and not a good person. People judge Ali the same way - as an angry young fighter and person. Ali is far from that most of his later adult years. They're both wonderful men that we are blessed to be able to have witnessed in our lifetimes. Most people don't know the full stories of their lives - as I do. I have tremendous respect for both of them as athletes and as men.

I know enough about Mr. Clay to think opposite of your thinking about the man. Imo, he has grown to be just as angry as ever if not more where Foreman has grown to be a great human and role model.....

You are spot on with that assessment. What a tremendous and person with a great story of continued success. I thought Ali was a great Boxer but a complete disappointment being that he was a piece of garbage muslim convert.

I'm okay with the separate nation thing. They can have Detroit, Flint, Baltimore, Chicago, East St. Louis and Oakland. Just group them together as loose affiliation of territories.

If you ask a black person in a major city they typically say they are African Americans. In my uneducated opinion that means you are a naturalized citizen from Africa. If they want their own country then why don't they go back. Mine is right here

This thread makes me weary. Most know so little about the man. I've seen every fight. Watched every documentary. Read every book. I kept a scrap book on him as a young man. He was a great, great fighter. Not many dispute that. It's his public life that so many are mistaken on. He's has atoned many times over for the mistakes he made as a young man. Yes he's a Muslim. THat should not condemn him for a lifetime. Even when he refused induction to the army - he did so based on his strong beliefs. He gave up the second most precious things to him to not go. He gave up his championship belt and wasn't allowed to fight for 3 years. It wasn't because he was afraid - it was because of his religious beliefs. I come from a family of many vetererans - three from Vietnam alone.

I could go on and on - about all the humanitarian things he's done but doubt it would convince many of you. Many just look at tHe angry rhetoric of his youth and most have not bothered to look past that. He was chosen to represent the USA by lighting the Olympic torch in the Atlanta games for a reason. Study up on his life before you condemn. He's a recognized global ambassador for all things good.

victory over Sonny Liston was FIXED......To this day boxing is plagued by fixing fights. Outside the ring its the dirtiest sport controlled by the mob.

I put ali in the same boat as that fonda bitch .. he could be your favorite athlete but don't forget what he did ..WE won't

I've read enough about the guy to last me for the rest of my life. He converted to Islam and if you call that a religion, well, I'm sorry. I sure don't and i'm not sure you understand that....cult.....very well at all. It sure as hell ain't no religion of peace, that's for sure. Ali converting to Islam tells me way more than enough to know about him and anyone else that's also a member of the religion of hate. And I kept up with him long after he converted and why I did that was to see if he would ever see the light and he never did.

I disagree. 19 or 20 years old Mike Tyson would have KO'd Ali in the 1st round. No ropey dope from Ali would be tolerated. Marciano fought as a heavy weight so why wouldn't they have fought?

My bad - I thought Marciano was a light heavy. I googled it and found I was wrong.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the Tyson/Ali outcome. Ali in his prime would have bitch slapped Tyson like the de-feathered chicken. Tyson was in his prime when he gets knocked out by Buster Douglas. He wasn't a fighter he was a brawler. Ali was a fighter - and the greatest one that ever lived.

Tyson was NOT in his prime when Douglas knocked him out ..he was so into drugs and women he didn't know up from down ..if you think ali would have an easy time with Tyson in his prime you don't know boxing ..NOBODY could deal with him when D'Amato was alive because he keep the monster in him under control ,Tyson turned out to be a jerk but in his prime he wouldn't be an easy fight for anyone who's walked this planet

Apparently you're the one who doesn't know boxing - Tyson was only 24 when Douglas knocked him out. When is it that you're in your prime anyway. Go ahead make something up. He never fought anyone in class of the Ali boxing generation.
