New Car?

i like gm for daily drivers i drive a 2007 chevy hhr and the wife drives a 2007 tahoe both have been great cars for old cars its mopar but i do also have a 69nova ss i have had since high school that i will have forever.

Wow, didn't think I'd get some many good comments! Thanks! The resale value of MOPAR stuff is in the toilet, sad. I also like the new Mustang, pretty nice car all around.

My brother-in-law sold hi 07 vette...He keep twisting his back getting in and out of the car...He checked out all three cars..Mustang,Camaro and the challenger...Test drove all three...He bought the Challenger...The camaro felt cheap like the late 80.s irocs...The one he test drove was rattling and it was a brand new car!!!Visibility was poor..Test drive both. Before you lay down the dough...

I own other makes too..4 toyota 4x4s the go any were parts are cheap.I also have a silverado diesel and then the real car my plymouth!!!
I,d rather push my PLYMOUTH than drive a ford!!!!

Here's my story, had an 06 Honda minivan that I mostly drove daily because the wife didn't like it much. Last summer we traded in the Odyssey for a six speed R/T classic that was on sale. We got 17K trade in for the Honda, so we took the plunge and got the R/T. If you haven't tried a six speed Challenger R/T, it is a very different animal compared to the automatic version. The auto trans is sluggish. The factory exhaust is noticeably quieter on the auto versions also. I think if you shopped around you might find a comparable deal on an R/T Challenger. Before you decide, at least test drive a six speed R/T Challenger! I'm pretty glad I got one before Ma mopar starts selling rebadged Fiats and the feds outlaw musclecars. If you're in Texas, have you gone to Mac Haik Georgetown? That's where I got my R/T.

That's a nice Challenger! I don't think the Feds are going to outlaw Musclecars, what may doom all of 'em is CAFE standards, hope the Republicans can roll back the insane CAFE standards set to hit like 2 yrs from now. I have not made any purchase, I drove 2 Camaros; V6 auto, and V8 w/ Hurst shifter. Both had poor visibility (as you mentioned), but good power on both engines, the V6 sounded, well, sounded like something you just don't want to rev up as it sounds well, like a V6! It had more power than my Avalanche -- at least the seat in the pants feeling told me this.

I also drove the new Mustang GT 5.0 6 spd Manual. Very nice car, very nice!! Not driven the 6 spd Manual Challenger. I may just go cheap/economical and score on a used Caliber SRT-4, prices are right now, and I've always liked 'em, used to be a turbo MOPAR guy in the mid to late 80s and early 90s; loved 'em then, and, with this Caliber SRT-4, it looks cool and has good power, and gets pretty good mileage! Of course, if I score a Caliber, it will be posted here! I just want a little break $$$ gas wise from my Avalanche as gas is over $3.00 a gallon now, prolly going higher too!

Donny
Should you decide to go with a Ford product I can get you the Employee price!

I've owned many different makes as daily drivers, but now drive a '07 Infiniti G35x and an '07 Nissan Frontier 4x4. My wife drives a '05 Honda Odyssey. The Nissan has been troublesome but the Infiniti and Honda have been nearly flawless since new. And the resale is very high on both. We plan on trading in the Honda at 250,000 miles and I will probably keep the G35 until I die. Awesome car!

How about the new SRT8 392 Hemi Challenger Donny?

470 Ponies............

I Mix/Match as well. Got a 06' Chev Z71 and a 09' Ford F150 work truck I drive everyday. Both great trucks. No issues. Take these harsh northern winters like a breeze.

Good luck on your purchase Bud!

Ford had money to do R&D over the last few years due to some smart people, and actually "mortgaging" the "Blue Oval" Trademark! GM and Chrysler lagged. Chrysler, due to our Cerberus overlords, put nothing into product development [I hope they all DIE of *** cancer!]. Our German masters were not much better. They refused to share ANY parts that could have given us an "economy-of-scale" for costs, because they thought any sharing would "cheapen" the Mercedes badge. One of the biggest complaints I hear about from my friends is not their Mopars, but about the Chrysler Dealer, when they have a problem. They always say they feel they got screwed by the dealer on service work.
Getting off-topic here. I keep buying 95-2000 Chysler Cirrus' and Stratus'. I have a long commute, and the 2.5 v-6 gets 26-28 mpg for me. Cheap as hell to fix, the JY's are full of them cause we made over a million of them! Plus, I get better parking in the Chrysler only lot at work.
We have a Suzuki given to us by the in-laws. I refuse to drive it. wife has it. Call me old school, but I will buy, and drive, what I build.

Mopars are where its at i LOVE my 72 charger. That being said i drive an 07 Mustang GT Daily and my first car (that i still have.) is a 72 Mustang... I also had a lifted 88 Ranger 4x4 xlt that i sold about 3 months ago... good truck, just didnt need it anymore. Challengers are my favorite modern muscle but i got got my 07 stang for a seal and it really is a great car. After im done with college i hope to buy a challenger AND restore my 72 Stang... but its going to take a lot of time. I love ma Mopar and the blue oval

Older thread here but where I live you don't want to drive your restored car on a regular basis, weather, salt, mud not good on my car or mindset . 2001 Malibu-beater just inspected and only, mind ya, 500 bucks, broken front end parts....

72Satellite440 project - obvious by my name but enjoy my 04 Toyota camry 2 dr.Solara
My parents got me hooked on these cars (Carolla / Camrys). Im a Mopar fan at heart but for a daily driver its pretty sporty

Well, the new car bug hit, but not me...again!

My wife traded her Charger in for a Traverse LT. Yeah, I know, oh well, it's her car, she cried when the deal was done b/c she loved that HEMI, but, she wanted a crossover, and she didn't like the new JEEP w a HEMI, nor did she like the new 2011 Charger, oh well!

Random thoughts on this topic in no particuar order:

I LOVE my 2000 Dak, just sucks 250 HP and 14 MPG while full size ford and gm get 18 MPG and 300-350 HP, with full back seat.

Used to LOVE the extra inch of headroom in Mopars. Not there any more, had to take out the headliner in my 05 work Dak. Kept me from buying a new one.

Mopar was WAY late on high MPG high HP V6 Fords had good MPG with HP in 4 and 8 for years.

Much as I like Mopar's new HIP colors, camaro's are better.

Mustang looks like a mustang, or what the last generation SHOULD have looked like.

Challenger looks "inspired" by 70-74.

Camaro vaguely resembles some elements of 67-69, sort of.

Mustang has 2 inches more headroom than Challenger.

Challenger is heavier with slightly less HP :(

New Ram kicks ***!!! Too bad I don't need that big of a truck.
Marketing must suck. I see chevy's and toyotas everywhere.

Toyota and nissan are not any better. Period.

May have had a case in 75-88 era.
Damage is done and a BITCH to recover from.

My Dak has 117,000.
1 water pump. 1 brake caliper. Heater not 100% Seat bushings worn.
That's it!!!!!

Given the choice between new Challenger, Mustang and Camaro, based on price, performance, economy, and comfort...I think I'd buy a Mustang.

I've owned 2 Buicks, 1 Olds, 1 Chevy (S10), 2 Fords, 10 Dodges (2 Dakotas), 1 Plymouth, 1 Chrysler.
Had 1 Kawasaki, 1 Yamaha, 2 Suzukis.
Wife has a Hyundai.
Mom has owned (and I work (ed) on) 2 Pontiacs, 1 Chrysler, 2 Buicks, 1 Ford, 2 Dodges (both Dakotas).

Wow lots of good results on this thread ,And everyone is right, but this is my thoughts, maybe foreign cars are a little better than my Nitro, not much if at all,but are foreign cars going to put food on my table ,are they going to give my grandkids jobs,Are they going to help with the infrastructures of our countrys ,SCHOOLS ,HOSPITALS ,LIBRARYS,roads ,sewers ,exct.I was told 30 % of the money stays here and 70 % goes back to foreign countrys
They dont care about anything but our money ,Sure we may get a good deal ,but at what cost in the long run.Id rather spend a little more and have my family and friends working. My Nitro was made in Toledo Ohio ,im Canadian, and couldnt be happier ,hope it kept someone there working.Thats my 2 cents

And the Chevy's built in Mexico and Chryslers in Canada, what about the Nissan's build here in the USA? Crazy!
