sounds like the header was designed for a low deck engine.

I have to agree. There's a 3/4" deck height between the two engines.

Some manufacturers specify one or the other, some don't.

My exhaust Man made it happen easily!!!
Summit brand (Patriot) ceramic headers 1 7/8" primaries with 3" pipes including H pipe. Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers.
