Rock Auto lists three "new" Mopar electronic distributors fairly cheap, complete with cap, rotor, vac advance and pickup coil for like $55-$75 dollars. Anyone have any experience with these? The bushings are worn pretty bad in mine causing the car to fart a couple times and quit on me while I was racing around with the neighbors kid showing him what a real car sounds like. My plan is to take my mechanical advance and HEI module from mine and put them on the new one. This sounds like the easy route to me, if the cap and rotor are good, and the shaft has no play in it. What say y'all?

Don't have any experience with these.

BUT, how good can they be for so little money? Are they a close out sale or are the a cheaply made unit that won't last? Roll the dice? Not me.

Not alot of money for the gamble.
How much is a cap, rotor, and pickup independently?

I have been using a Rock Auto new replacement distributor for 6 or7 years now in my 65 318 poly engine. I could not find a used Chrysler distributor for less than a new one or even at the same price, so I bought the chinese RA unit, disassembled, inspected, and lubed it. It works fine. I bought the adapter plate online to mount the HEI module and a Ford E-frame coil from RA along with the correct electrical connector and wired it up. Any questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I think I will look into locating the parts to rebuild my old one. Not a big rush with winter setting in!

I have been using Chinese HEI dist for years. $80 for a Chebby, $100 for the other brands.

I have lost count of how many I have used, but never had a failure. The weights & centre plate are chromed to prevent rust. I strip them to put in my own centri curve. Everything comes lubricated. They are well made.
