New scam going around

Yesterday I got 6 or 7 calls from a "robot" claiming to be from the Social Security Administration. After ignoring the first 4 calls, I listened to the voice mail.
They claimed that an action was needed to eliminate suspected fraud on my account.
I deleted the 4 messages.
They called back. I answered this time and followed the bullshit press 1, press 2. Once I got to a LIVE person, the background sounded like the inside of a machine shop or something busy..."Can I help you?" Yeah...You can QUIT calling me. "I just need your name and Social Security number" Yeah? Well YOU called ME, ******. Don't you already know that?
These jerkoffs called 2 more times but NOW they claimed that If I did not respond, they were going to have me arrested. Again, this was a ROBOT voice like all the other messages.
Anyone else get these calls?
NO, I did not give the assclown any info, I have not applied for credit anywhere or given out my SS# to anyone .
I made it through today without being arrested. There is a big weekend coming up, I'd hate to spend it in jail.

i used to think lawyers were the worst Scammers in the world..
then,as i got older i realized Politicians are the worst...
but these telemarketers...they are catching up Fast.

The "sales" phone calls can stop if you don't answer a couple of times. A lot of them do have an option "press 2" to have your number taken off their list.

But the IRS imposter call has to be the worst I've ever heard. Can you imagine an elderly person getting that call? The IRS won't call you, that's the first thing you have to remember. Maybe reporting the call to your phone provider, (document what time it was if you don't see the number) might be one step. They can shut them down for a period of time but they seem to "set up shop" later on and it starts up again. I don't believe they can prosecute certain ones from foreign countries and they know this.

that is a old scam that has been around for a while
nobody from the government is ever going to call you from out of the blue
unless you have contacted them first.

My sister in-law is a new immigrant from Vietnam and got the call at her house early in the morning. They asked for all the usual and she being a legal green card holder feared they would deport her if she didn’t comply. She dutifully gave her SS number to them and was prepared to go to the bank and empty her account as they asked - but before heading to the bank she called me - Yikes! I told her not to worry it was all a scam etc etc. She was petrified! These pricks pray on people like her and the elderly hoping to get a hook into one of them and hitting the jackpot.

There’s a new one out there called “Do me a Favor”. Basically you get an email or text from someone you know asking for a favor. They want you to buy some gift cards for some made up reason then Take a pic and text or email them the codes on the cards - then the scumbags intercept and drain the cards in a heartbeat. People are losing thousands of $$ because the comm looks like it’s coming directly from your boss or family member etc.

There’s a new one every quarter - stay vigilant - coach your elderly - don’t get scammed!!

Never mind with the telemarketer. Get wrid of the POS who sells them YOUR information. That's the source of the problem!

I've gotten them to. Don't call them as the number is probably out of the country & you get to pay the international rate, which depending on where you call could cost you a ton of money as it's unregulated. Also, these scammers have called 911 in the past to swat people if you piss them off.

I've gotten some robot calls that only speak some Asian language.
I've also got the ones trying to sell something so I play along and get connected to a real person. I just put the phone down and continue with what I was doing. When they are finished they ask me if I'm interested. I say that I wasn't paying attention. When they ask why I just say I want to waste their time the sameway they are wasting my time. They get pissed and hang up.

Yeah, I got a robo call as well from the "SS administration" saying they where going to delete my account.

I just hung up.

When we were kids we used to call the local bowling alley and put our names on the list for a lane. Jack Meoff. Then the lady would get on the loud speaker and say “Jack Meoff for bowling”..... ... lol.
