You can now go 10.0 without a roll cage so long as all the factory air bags etc are still hooked up. Throw on a helmet and go. Not sure about a fire retardant jacket etc though. This is supposed to be in an effort to get street racing to the track. Also, not sure if this is old news or not.

Jacket required, helmet of course.

I thought it a good move. I heard this yesterday watching Leah Pritchett win he class in the Challenger.

Man! What a hottie she is!

What's the ET/MPH for helmet and jacket requirement?

You can go 10.00 but not faster, as I understand it.
For 2008 and newer cars......don't remember what it is/was for 2007 and down but once you break 11.49, they want you to have a roll bar. I think 10.99 was the break point for a jacket or it used to be. Been many years since racing or even having a rule book.

@11.50 you need a jacket and 13.99 and faster a helmet.

Originally this rule was put in place for cars as purchased, with the limit being 10.00 and no faster than 135mph. I believe now mods can be done as long as the original factory safety equipment is left intact.

sounds like a smart move on the NHRA's part
