No dipstick?

I wasn't planning on abuying a new vehicle.
But why not have the sensor and a dipstick?
I'd buy the extra $ dipstick option. LOL!

The dumbing down continues. From the article ….

The downsides of dipsticks

According to an article from Motor.com, dipsticks consist of around a dollar’s worth of metal and plastic and are the cheapest sensors in a motor vehicle. As a sensor, it has its downsides. For example, dipsticks can only tell someone if there is an issue when the engine is off. On top of that, accurate readings can be hard to get if the car isn’t sitting on level ground. Many don’t use it, and those who do usually struggle to get an accurate reading.

Well,
Good thing I wouldn't buy a new Chrysler if it was half price. They have discontinued the last remnants of things that were actually Chrysler in the last two years anyway. All of this BS is foreign driven nonsense pushed by accountants.
We get ever closer to "cars as a service".

Well then........

I guess that whomever buys one......then it'll have a dipstick........in the driver's seat holdin on to the steering wheel.....

Here to report my NEW 2024 3500 does have them both great news. LOL im good

It's upside down! You'll never get a correct reading! Lol.
Did Cummins change anything this year?
All the emissions and DEF scare me, I still like my 03 HO. Seems like the new ones can't be deleted.

Does this mean I can't call one of the usual suspects a "dipstick" anymore ?

Well it took 9 minutes to get that response longer than I anticipated. LOL, i would have thought that MR cranium would have caught that first. All in fun.

Our 2008 BMW 328xi has no dipstick. You check the oil level by the dashboard menu.

Getting rid of the dipstick provides better sealing of the engine to control vacuum to better control emissions.

The BMW oil level sensor also tells you when the sensor has gone bad. I hope Ram does the same thing.

Most BMWs I see smoke oil.
A guy I know was told by the dealership, 1-2 quarts per 5k was normal?
Not saying it has to due with the stick but it all is relevant.

Air/Oil separator is going south. Pull the intake and replace the separator along with all connecting hoses. Use the thicker walled cold weather hoses if available.

My '98 M Roadster (3.2 liter engine) with 127,000 miles uses less than a quart in 6,000 miles.

Not all BMW dealerships are nice. Standards may vary.

So if you need to add oil to the BMW engine, at what point do you find out there is enough poured in?

No dipstick means no visible means of level checking??? I suppose there is a sight-glass or something?

There hasn't been dipsticks in automatic transmissions for awhile.

I remember several makers having "low oil" lights in the dash. A sensor in the oil pan tells you when its a quart low.

I want a dipstick, at least a way to visually check any fluid levels. Cars for dumb asses!

Example...
