Distributor advance problem? Are you thinking too much timing?
No, maybe its not advacing at lower rpms which is like retarding it, until the rpms arr up then wham! It kicks in, too late...sticking or too heavy of springs maybe

I've got an MSD distributor with no vacuum advance. I have the lightest springs possible installed...all in at 2200 apx.
 
A steel head gasket would help if my theory is correct, a little bit any way. eddie's would help if the are the small chamber ones
 
Well, thanks for all of the great input guys. I will try to do a compression test first, I've got the stuff, but I've never done one. If that's fine, I have a few options to try I guess.
 
I was going to say call Hughes they have 360s dialed in for power.
