(Noisy). My '70 318 pcv valve whistles and rattles like crazy! I can hear it inside the car. It has the cheap plastic valve. I bought a second with no improvement. I know that's it because when I pull it out and plug it with my finger it's totally gone. It's attached to the front vacuum inlet on my Holley 570 and plugged into the driver side Mopar alum valve cover. I have a valve cover breather cap on the passenger side. Engine has 17" vacuum at idle. Do I need a nos valve or something else to stop this noise?

are you using the correct PCV valve for that SB motor? PCV valves are calibrated for the motor, they are not one size fits all. The one in the picture is for small block motors from Jims Auto Parts, KQ-PCV1, PCV valve (white plastic with out ribs and with metal base and includes the correct grommet.

Have you considered and/or checked the PCV grommet? Maybe it's deteriorated and cracked causing a very slight vacuum leak.

Mine whistles like mad at idle as well. Even with a replacement grommet. This is with a plastic aftermarket PCV so I'm seriously considering going with the reproduction metal style for my 383.

Oddly enough, mine is plastic as well and is quiet. Maybe you just have a bad one.

I had the same issue, I bought a bag of assorted rubber grommets for $4 at o'kragens and used the one that fit the tightest...fixed it right up
