Not the official weather thread.....

Just drove into town and back. Boat launch and entire bay is wide open water, maybe I should dig out the boat!
Trees and branches down all over here and water running everywhere. Yesterday evening many roads closed. Just very windy now.

Just heard the words

Bomb Cyclone

Polar Vortex

Would have been a blast with a home Packer Game this weekend

Finally hit a real -40 today. Ahhhhhh.....

It’s -43 here again but supposed to warm up next week. Our dog is the least likely northern dog that you could imagine. She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and there is nothing in her Rhodesian DNA that prepares her for this sort of cold. She cramps up for about a minute as soon as she goes outside, and then is fine. But I have to physically toss her off the deck or she will pee right there. I walk her out of town every day so that I don’t end up with a yard full of dog **** in the spring. She cramps up for about a minute and then runs around like the happy lunatic that she is.

Supposed to be in the low 20's Monday and Tuesday for the low and then be well below average for the next several days prior and after.....we just ain't set up for 20 degree weather here. Was 77 yesterday.....

Think I told this story before, but here goes…
when our daughter was young, like around two or three, we went to Dallas in December. When we left here it was in the minus twenties. We get to Dallas wearing running shoes and windbreakers. Dallas has a snowstorm and the temp is right around freezing. The city comes to a standstill. We are in our glory because it’s so warm. I had people actually giving me a hard time for bringing our daughter out dressed like that in that kind of weather. We still chuckle over that.

Dolphins at KC is supposed to be the coldest game ever played.

Not sure I believe that, though.

IIRC minus 8 is the forecast.

Hey, when you are used to warm/hot weather, 30 degrees feels cold to us. I have a buddy that spends some time in Yellow Knife but only in the summer. He's been there in the winter once and said he'll never do that again lol

Packers Cowboys Ice Bowl Is Still Considered The Coldest

-13 Below

I worked a 24 hour shift at the GRB Airport back in 2008 for the Packers Giants

The busiest private jet event for anything in Green Bay WI
And that’s a fact

I think it was around -4 Below
Top Ten For Sure Coldest

Nice thing from what I remember about that game , was not very windy i think

The Packers are supposed to fly out of GRB tomorrow for Dallas
We are in full mode Blizzard conditions this afternoon and tonight

I know what you mean about getting used to temps, we have a friend here who is originally from Jamaica. He wears a snowmobile suit here when the rest of us are in tee shirts and jeans. This past summer we had a Mexican friend stay with us for a few months. When it started to cool down in September he was getting cold. Even though we had record warm temps in November and December he was freezing. This stretch of minus forty would have done him in.

When we had temps in the teens a couple of years ago and we lost power was bad enough lol

I don't see extremely cold winters here but I've visited -40 places a few times. Dress warmly and hope to get back inside as soon as possible. :)
At the same time, I'll watch a tv show that takes place somewhere balmy, like L.A. in summer and I'll see people wearing a shirt and a jacket in temperatures where everyone around here would feel too hot with a t-shirt or no shirt.

Mexico. We spend a few months in Mazatlan every year. The nacionales (not called locals) wear jeans, long sleeves and shoes pretty much all of the time. It’s only gringo tourists that wear light shirts, shorts, and sandals. Going out for dinner in the evening Mexicans will wear a coat or sweater when I can’t even wear long pants because they stick to me.
