Here is a question for you guys doing a complete factory restore. I know hyper-flex poly etc bushings are better, but would you go with OEM rubber bushings, because it is a factory restore? Or cheat just a little with poly for the better ride.

Thanks

What are you building the car for? That negates what to put on the car......

When you say OEM bushings are you referring to NOS or aftermarket?

I’m kinda thinking the same way. OE type has more friction on rotating than poly I think(?). Wear I guess, poly is better & doesn’t react as much with petroleum products.

My opinion ... the factory bushings lasted a very long time, why switch ? I like the "tighter" ride of poly but they can be noisy.

I'm using OE service replacements like Moog. Nothing wrong with them for a restored car that sees <1000 miles a year and no serious drag, autocross or road track.

If your doing a resto mod or pro tour car, then you would opt for poly bushings.

For what it's worth (not much) - I decided to go with rubber in the front suspension except for strut rod ends & sway bar. I used PST poly in the rear spring bushings. I sanded the inside of the spring bushing ends to smooth them a bit and greased the heck out of them.

I'm starting with a complete factory restore and see where it takes me. It looks like the answer is aftermarket OEM. Thanks for the great info everyone!

Best is rubber for me
I did a e type jag with poly
The guy regrets putting on those bushings and now wants to go back to rubber
I used runny on my car except for the rear leaf spring pad
