Of all the city folks here who has heard gunfire near their home?

Just curious as now I am wide awake at 2:30am, of all the folks that live in the city, who has heard gunfire near their home, and late at night?

Someone only a block away was firing a gun, I heard 2 or 3 shots, then realized after hearing 3 more and a speeding rice mobile it was gunfire over in a commercial area near me. Now the. Cops swarmed all over the area but 30 minutes later are gone.

When I live in Northern Virginia, I heard gunfire almost every night living next to Washington D.C.

Out here in Gods' country, hearing gunfire is as normal as hearing any of the dozens of native critters roaming around on these ridges.
I make some of it myself sometimes.
Sounds like freedom to me.

Yes, I understand this is a different thing than in urban areas. Grew up and lived in cities (Atlanta and Va. (DC) suburbs).
Left 22 years ago and never looked back. I decided to live where I could defend and fight back.

I use to live near the Indy 500 track. It seems like every time someone threw a party (almost nightly in the summer) someone brought a gun. At one point we actually had a bullet hit my kids bedroom window. That is why I drive an hour to work now.

I've lived in a city known for gun violence for the past five years, and, in town, I haven't heard gunfire once myself (though I have heard of shootings happening in the general area). The neighborhood I live is neither among the best nor the worst.

One night, after just moving to the city, someone threw black cat firecrackers into the street. It was March. The popping woke me up, and my first thought was gunfire, so I leapt out of bed, and hit the deck. As the firecrackers continued to go off, it became clear what they actually were. (We later moved the bedroom into a spot away from the street.)

Like a lot of other Hillbillies here gunfire is a common occurrence. A lot of times initiated by me. I don't and won't live in a city, so can't empathize with those that do. Gunfire here means someone is having fun.
For those that do live in such circumstances, its easy for someone like me to say move out, but not always possible. Keep as safe as you can, and if given the chance, choose the country life.

December 20 last year some SPLEEB parked in front of my house and driveway entrance spraying 2 of my neighbors houses with AK 47 I have it all on video upload says file is to large or I would post it .. I was so lucky 5 years back to buy this 2800 sq ft 4-3-3car for 85k was a bank foreclosure and was in bad shape nice neighborhood even .. so I thought

We live in one of the “safest cities in America” . Heard gunfire in the afternoon the other day. Some 26 year old kid shot and killed his father and fathers girlfriend. Then shot two other residents on the house and injured them. Shocker for us. The argument was over the snowflake getting a job - imagine that. Now he has one for the rest of his life and free meals and a free roof over his head. They caught him the next day about 40 miles from here in another city. Deadbeat! Enjoy San Quentin and rooming with bubba.

I guess that criminals in England don’t use any guns? That's great! Unfortunately, the criminals in the USA don't abide by the law and use their guns to commit crimes. I'd rather have a gun to defend me and mine than wait for the police to come and use the crime scene clues to figure out who killed me.

None of that, really. Guns are just another tool that's normal and around when you grow up in rural areas.
You learn how to use and respect them as much as you learn to respect your fellow man and his own property.

Look, you have to get real with this whole life thing - there's good and evil among us.
Police aren't stationed in our living rooms 24/7 - they will, at best, respond AFTER **** has gone down; that's just the reality of it.

Again, speaking for where I am, it's a fairly small world, meaning the bad guys and the good guys all sort of know one another or have at least heard about one another.
Bad guys know where the folks are that are armed and obviously steer clear when they're looking to profit off your possessions.
Even if they don't, in my case up here on the ridge, it's a pretty good drive up and they can be seen a long time before they see us - and when they do see up here, first thing they notice are all the steel targets across my field.
That's called a "clue" to some folks.

Even the county sheriff instructs his deputies to call first if they ever need to come up my hill. I like that.

Wish I could, but in the 21 years I have lived here, I have heard only the hunters far off during duck and goose hunting season, this was some idiot, and close enough that I had to check the house this morning for bullet holes!

Nah, they are morally superior because they'd rather get stabbed, blown up, or hit with trucks than be able to defend themselves.
