Oh boy, the list could get long!
First off, no slouches have been mentioned. MoparStuart, good call on Chris Cornell!
We could go WAY back and include Dean Martin and Bing Crosby.
Roadrunnerman, I grew up with Neil Diamond as well, some fond memories there, love his early stuff.
I'm going to throw David Grohls' name on the list as I am a HUGE Foo Fighters fan.
Leonard Cohen (Born with the gift of a golden voice)
Joe Jackson
Elvis Costello
Matt Johnson (The The)
I'll think of more, it's early.

My opinion, it's no contest... Frankie Valli. Although Jay Black is a very strong contender for runner-up.

If you are actually looking for guys who can sing a song I Have to go old school-
Francis Albert Sinatra, Tony Bennett

Rob Halford.

THANK GOD!! I am not alone! I thought I would have to scroll to the bottom to put Rob Halford in there! Bruce Dickinson, also a front runner. Freddy Mercury, also a hit, but cut tragically short. I also respect Sinatra, but he talked more than sang, like William Shatner! My favorite music is good music! I appreciate all. I like to listen to classical while I surf the forums. I like Wagner. Thing is, that every time I listen to Wagner, I get this urge to invade Poland!

One vote for Carl Wilson

Of the Beach Boys Carl sang "God only knows" "Good vibrations" and many others, the voice of an angel lost to the big C far to soon , RIP Carl Wilson.

How about some real old school, Dean Martin ...Volare oh oh oh... the man had some serious pipes... or Carl Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine from the Beach Boys... or Jan & Dean... or Elvis the pelvis of course... I really love the Temptations any of them would be great also... Ricky {what's his name ?} that died in the plane crash when it depressurized... or Buddy Holly... ultimately Marvin Gay is my vote though...

Glad you mentoned Jay Black. He had a terrific voice. That brought to mind another, Johnny Maestro of the Brooklyn Bridge and The Crests. He passed away a couple of years ago. Before he passed, he did some PBS specials and he still sounded great.

Glad someone finally mentioned Frank Sinatra. When you listened to him sing you could easily hear and understand every word he sang. Most singers slur the song's words together so badly you almost don't know what they are singing about, yaknowwhatImeanVern? :)
