So first i am not saying its wrong i am just asking what all of you out here think please share your thoughts... :)

Old people: old school.

Young people: new school.

I'm halfway between and I like them both.

There is always questions to this and my thoughts are back 60+ years they called them Hot Rods. Today is not any different than back then, you mixed new with the old and you get some very interesting combinations.I personally would like to install a 3rd Gen Hemi in a 64 Plymouth,it is not any different now than back then.I say GO FOR IT!!!

Have been in Mopars for over 50 yrs.

What do these 2 mean?

  • New retro fit
  • New modern day muscle car Interior

Is there something called "new retro fit" you can buy or something?

on latter do you mean like new Challenger interior in a new challenger or putting that in an older car?

Just asking for clarification

Depends on the car now a days.....all original Hemi etc and I will keep it all original. My 66 Belvedere /6 car will be custom.

Well yes to new car interior in a old muscle car body & to the question of Retro fit would mean ( imitating the style or design of the past using new materials... Best that this old man can do with my limited brain storage... LOL.

When I hear new school I think of Chip Foose. De-chrome the car, two paint the paint, remove the door handles, slam the car on the ground and add 20" rims. I'm more of a day 2 kind of guy. Old school - add torque thrust or cragars wheels raise the car up a few inches install cam, intake and headers add a tach to the column and leave the rest of the car original. But don't listen to me I think bench seats and column shifts are cool.

Hey Darius, how do you drive the GTX without seats? I have a couple of milk crates I could paint to match the carpet. Or possibly white to contrast with the carpet.

I wish you would have made this poll multiple choice ! But I won't wimp out so I choose A. because I love the 70 RR interior specifically and my 68 R/T (wish it was rally dash though), and the others even though the OEM quality is not a high standard I just love the look, but I'd take a car like Darius built in a heartbeat if I had the money and someone to do it for me .. I just would never have the skillz or motivation to get it done myself.

The new material in an original style is cool also and I've seen some that look spectacular and I think the custom stuff is great for those that can do it and pull it off to compliment the car.

I'm with Cranky on this one it depends on the car... If it's a numbers matching and/or fairly close to original or able to restore back to original then I think that should be respected. If it's far enough off the beaten path then I say take whatever liberties to suit your personal taste!

I've posted this elsewhere by my car is a 68 in 69 trim, on it's 3rd colour change and had been converted to an A-833 when I bought it from an auto car... with that knowledge I don't have many reservations about taking the car in the direction I want.

with that said though I like the original interior to remain pretty close to original... If I was building a really high-dollar pro-touring car I'd mess with installing a newer interior too but I like being in a classic musclecar to feel like I'm in a classic musclecar not like I'm behind the wheel of a newer challenger, charger or avenger... Just my $.02

Sometimes I like the old school custom. That may be number 4. The '72 Ford F-100 4x4 has a crushed blue velvet dash and headliner. I think it shows the love someone had for this truck at one time. I guess I like retro everything, I agree a number matching muscle car should have an original interior or as close to it as you can get. Can you change a bench to buckets. Yep as long as it looks original. BTW the blue velvet on the truck is burned on two places on the dash. I suspect the defroster was not working fast enough and someone put pans of steaming water on the dash to speed things up.

Give me everything classic other than the power train.

Nothing against old school power trains but I'm a youngin.

Id give up a kidney for a new 6.3 Hemi w/ fuel injection

I personally like a mixture of stock & maybe some better front seats, sometimes gauges, sometimes steering wheel, but with a somewhat 60's-70's classic style {not the disco era thou}... But it really depends on the car, the way I do one car, isn't necessarily how I would do another car... No one style, It varies vastly... But I've never really been a big fan of column shifters or bench seats except in trucks, but have owned many like that too, that stayed that way too... I do like my new ProCar Elite Black buckets for driving, way better than the original bench seat, that was in my 68 RR, it was near perfect too, but for my style of driving & this particular type of build, I like the buckets way better, I also changed the steering wheel to a TUFF wheel... But both styles, still have their places in car builds... I'm more of a day 2 type guy mostly now, been down the 100% OEM road many/many times & won't probably ever travel that road anymore either... I completely resect those that still do, just not for me anymore... Unless I find some rare car, that should be 100% OEM... 67coronetman You should have had none of the above, on the list too or other maybe, that's what would have been my choice of yours listed.... So I picked personal custom look, it fit what I'm thinking the best... But a quality bucket seat, stock 68-70 interior {Black is my preference}, especially with head rests, with a nice floor shifter in the console, it's tough to get any better look & it doesn't get very much better than that... So you can say I'm truly on the fence... "Build it how you want it, drive it like you stole it & damn the rest, who cares what someone else thinks"

I prefer a factory interior with some minor changes, like aftermarket gauges hanging below the dash, shifter, etc. but honestly, as long as it's clean and comfortable, I'm good.

Foose: No.

Darius: Yes.

Done. I plan to spend some time on the road in the desert with Darius. Reliablilty, drivabilty. Not styling tweeks for the sake of styling tweeks. Purpose built Mopar Legends.

I like old school muscle it around with gobs of horse power steep gears and a 4 speed
