one plug not firing

The valve spring is off and the valve seal looks good. going check spring pressure. has to be the intake gasket hopefully. thanks for all the help guys. I got messed up starting out chasing a fuel problem till you guys set me straight and said oil problem.

valve springs were 926-16 110 seat 320 open with a .060 shim at 500 lift. rather have more seat and less open. they never floated with the small solid cam went to 5600 rpms. intake gasket is next.

pulled the intake and gasket. on one bottom going into the port corner of 3 cylinder was wet. all the other cylinders were dry. can't use the paper on the bottom the bolt holes are way off. might have the intake milled. maybe 10 thousand on each side is that too much ?

What intake and carb? Are you trying to block the heat with a shim? Avoid papers if possible.

rpm performer avs2 carb. I made 2 metal plates with a 1/4 inch hole for block offs going into the intake. I can try some sealant what would be the best non harding ?

I use to use thin metal plates back in the day. They really don't work well because they don't let the intake lay flat across the head that creates a leak. Use a felpro gasket that has the heat blocked. You can drill a small hole in the blocked off area for some manifold heat. Seal everything up with permatex ultra grey. Edelbrock intakes in general have a crummy fit. Too wide and angles aren't always good.

got it back together ran good then it started acting up The plug has oil on it but not as bad. Using some non harding sealant helped some. I need to find a cure. mill the intake or heads so I can run a gasket. never had the problem with the stock intake on it.

Edelbrock intakes are crap. The only solution, and what I do, is start measuring stuff. check the angles/ front back taper and how much too wide they are. If you used the Grey rtv it has to set up over night before starting. I take a lot of time doing this with the engine on a stand.

Another thing is the 800avs. I have a friend who runs one and I tune it. I had to take a lot of jet out of the primary half to really smooth it out.

i will try that next. if not I have a ported stock iron intake to see what happens

I don't know how to do that. it wasn't the gray one. would it help to just mill the sides of the intake .005 on each side ? i went down 2 sizes in the cruise mod from the start on the avs2

Don't mill stuff without measuring. When you went down 2 sizes on the rods that would be richer.

this was caked into 3 intake runner in the intake manifold needed a rod and hammer to get it out. what the hell is it ?
