Ontario Ministry of the Enviroment roadside checks

A while back Ca did a program where you would get paid for your old car (pre 76) to get it off the road. It is a belief that old cars = bad emissions. AAA did an article about 20 years ago where they put a 1965 Mustang (6 cyl 170 cid) and a 1985 Mustang through the emissions snifer. The 65 did horrible but the reason it did was because it was not a maintained engine. It had 180,000 original miles on it, but they said that all old cars would be like this. Well a bit later someone did a rebuttal with a fresh rebuilt engine (same as the 65 that was tested) and it did better than the 85 in emissions. The truth is that if you maintain the engine to keep it at its peak performance then the smog is not an issue. Old cars are an easy target for the EPA. They will keep pushing restrictions and fees (it's always about money) on us till we give them up. The same with guns. The government needs to get out of our lives. Clean air yes, but not at the expense of living
