68 440 supposedly over 500hp. Just curious on what you guys think it's worth off first impressions. I'm looking at it this weekend and will have tech data for it

To "ME" it does not look too promising, I'm just giving you my opinion.
I'm Very skeptical on: '500 HP engine for sale" advertisements unless there is DATA to back it up.

Need more Data please?
1. What Heads?
2. Any machine work done on the engine? Receipts and records of parts etc.
3. Reciprocating assembly consists of what components? Forged Crank? I-Beam rods? Forged Aluminum pistons?
4. Crank turned .10/.10?
5. Bore?
6. Stroke?

For 500HP right there, there had better be some serious Head Porting in those heads!
For street purpose I would NOT use that manifold, you'd need an 800CFM to 850CFM carb (Holley)

Just saying....
Also: PRICE?

Check the Forum under: Mopar Performance Parts For sale:
There are 3 or 4 "440 Mopar" engines for sale, some have 500HP. So check the prices and compare.

The Mickey Thompson valve cover make it go faster Ski...

The first thing I see is the tag that says to remove weight from converter, alluding to a steel crank, then I see the tapered harmonic balancer, which is for the cast crank only???????

I also wouldn't use that manifold on the street.

Horse power numbers mean nothing to me. Would need to personally know the builder to give any serious money for something like that. Looks does not make an engine reliable.

What's wgat, never heard of it and have no idea what your trying to say. What are you really talking about?

Painted black not a good sign, a true mopar nut would have painted it the correct color at least. Sounds like a chevy guy sold it to you. Are you trying to sell it? I would tear it down check out the parts if they look good then bolt it back up and paint it right and slap that puppy in a car!

No I didn't buy it a guy had it built for his mud drag truck on 44s? And he never ended up putting it in and it's just sitting in his shop. Thought I might trade him something I had for it. He has a build sheet or paperwork with everything that's in or has been done to the motor I'll post it up when I look at it but over all I was just curious about it's worth and wanted opinions

Well in that case it depends on what its built with, all stock is $2-3500 stroked could be up to $6-8000 depends, looking at the picture other than that manifold which unless you're going to drag it I would change for a street car. those heads look stock, there is no water pump or distributor no exhaust manifolds.

It's up to you, you could go in there and just hand him $1000 and tell him you're leaving with it after tossing back a few buds.

I'll add to this those mud truck guys down here are all running at least 500 hp they race them here threw the mud so it very well could be but I also know they arnt cheap when they build them ether but you deff need the internals info ,
But if this is for street use this motor might not be a good pick beings theses guys here all have rpm ranges starting at 4 k so it might be a dog till 4 k then hold on
Good luck
