Alcohol represents the highest death toll....period! Weed does NOT kill....period! Cant fade facts with bullshit recriminations. Im a 25 year reformed alcoholic, the only goddamned drug that displaced my identity in blackouts....coke didnt do it,,meth didnt do it & reefer sure as **** didnt do it! So blah blah! That said, it all comes back to the user. Ban one, ban them all...ESPECIALLY alcohol!!

Blaming crime on drugs is the same ******* thing.....its the USER & their fucked up morals,,,period!!
Addiction is not a disease(alcohol is at head of list)it is a choice. I did a lot of using in my time, alcohol would have killed me if i hadnt quit 25 years ago. Coke & meth were pretty bad, but i NEVER stole or cheated to support my habits.....thats the **** morals that take over there. I knew an asshole that broke into a circle k for a ******* six pack of beer.
You think drugs are to blame for crime then you best become democrat and support gun control too!
I started using on my own & i quit on my own. I smoke the **** out of weed except when im unhappy, depressed......oh yeah, real addictive ****. Get the **** over it.

You might just find out some facts that go against your non fact based beliefs.

A great place to start is searching why was Cannabis made illegal to begin with?
The answer......racism and religious zealotry.

I went to a local gas station to fix my daughters boyfriends car. He works there,and while I was there,he was cleaning up hyperdermic needles left in the bathroom by the junkies. He finds them there all the time. He found three of them while I was there. What if some little kid were to find the biohazzards these pigs left behind! I gave him a pair of pliers that I had in my truck,I said to him use these instead of handling them! Its crazy out there!

Doctors around here are reluctant to prescribe even antibiotics. Theye are so scared of frivolous lawsuits that it impairs they're judgment worse than a bottle of scotch.
I cut my finger badly a few months ago requiring stitches. Dr. Wouldn't give any antibiotics or even a single days worth of the weakest hydrocodone. I had to come back when the finger got infected so badly I couldn't even use my hand. Still no meds, not even when I asked. luckily I had some amoxicillin left over from my livestock (they use the exact same bubblegum favored medicine) after 2 doses infection went away.
As for painkillers, I know better than even ask the pricks. I just ask my dad for one of his. He has RA and his specialist allows him one refill per month. Which he seldom uses more than half of, because as Dennis H said. You are the one who puts it in your body. And dad would rather smoke a joint and only takes a hydro on the worst days.
I get tired of everybody else ruining things for me. I could break my damn leg and the ******* Dr. around here would just tell me to take Tylenol. ********
Personally I don't give a damn what others do with their lives, so long as I don't have to pay for it.
I say seize the heroin from the cartels and hand it out free to the junkies. They'll all be dead in a week problem solved.

I hate to disappoint you, but I am far from liberal.
However, I do admit that I refuse to bury my head in the sand and ignore the fact that there are MANY contributing factors to the opioid epidemic.
Being open minded and compassionate enough to seek and understand the truth is part of being a decent human being.
Why you would call it "subscribing to the liberal tenet" is mind boggling.

I dislocated my right ankle in 2009 took 15 month to get back to work. Doctor told me my ankle was almost worn out, yes I'm a fatty. Retired in 2011 at 62 after second knee replacement. Shortly after that ankle pain so bad couldn't be on my feet 20 mins. Couldn't do anything on my cars. For 2 years my doctor told my to go to a pain management clinic. Finally did in 2015 tried a few things short of drugs but little improvement. Started with Hydrocodone and it was a major improvement. I can see how people over use it. Me if I want to do a big job I take 1 to start the job and a half after into job. If I start to hurt again I save the job for another day. Maybe do that 2 days in a row. Then I'd have to take 2 full to get started which I don't do. Will take a few days off no pills and let ankle stop yelling. That way I can stay out of trouble. No Al K Hall either.

If this country didn't have such an ample supply of herion and coacain and the cost being cheep enough for anyone to buy, we wouldn't have all of these deaths from it. It takes a lot of money to incarsarate, rehabilitate, and get these people with "hands" back to a normal contributing citizen, if they ever do.

Once a person uses one time, they can be hooked. We're not talking about cigarettes or pot, we're talking about the hard stuff. I've seen what it does to a person. Everyone makes bad choices. I've made them, you've made them. I would never make the mistake to ever try one of these drugs but there are a lot of these kids out there, whether it's peer pressure that makes them do it, home life, depression, who knows but it seams to happen real easy. Once they're hooked, it's a nightmare to deal with. Until you've seen it first hand, you'll never understand the control it has on them. It's dealing with the devil, the person that they use to be, no longer exists until they become clean again.

And in many cases, when a person manages to get clean, their brain chemistry has already been permanently altered.
Chronic depression, extremely high suicide rates.
 
Hmm...dare I jump into this debate? Uhhh...yep. Fran Blacker, I too completely dislocated my right ankle in 2013, looking down the inside of my right leg the bottom of my foot was looking back at me. It hurts me EVERY DAY to walk on it. I take nothing for it. Never will. I stopped drinking beer and liquor, smoking grass and hash, smoking cigarettes, and drinking coffee like a fiend...all on the same day. I was stationed in West Germany at the time. I spent 32 days in a med spa in Austria but still, I stopped. I did. Nobody helped me, nobody held my friggin hand, nobody eased me off of anything. I was just 21 years old. If I had not stopped when I did, I wouldn't have made it to 22. My company and my pals never knew I did it or what it cost me. Nobody knew, I took 30 days in country leave, said I was going skiing in Austria and Italy. Was it hard? Hell yes, it was and still is a nightmare. Now before you say stuff like, well your an exception, or your just strong willed or any other nonsense, hear this...I am just a regular guy. If I CAN DO IT, ANY DAMN BODY SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT. MHO. 2 cents.
 
only way is to go cold turkey easing off is just keeping it going
