...And sadly,right back in...
Still f@#$%&*@ with the brakes and the trans leaks like a baby, but I pulled the Sport Fury out of the garage for the first time in quite a while. Had to see how the stance looked(I like it!),and those way-cool wheels(good choice) and wanted to wash all the crap off her. It effin' sucks that I won't make Back To The Bricks or Woodward D.C.;but if I can swing a new trans or a timely rebuild of this one,I may be able to drive it. The saga of this car and me could fill a small book. Suffice to say that there's a "collector" in the Toledo,Ohio area that is far less than honest when it comes to cars he sells...I got burned bad,driveline-wise, with this one.
She's still gorgeous,IMO. I think owners of any '64 Plymouth hardtop, whether Belvedere,Fury or Sport Fury would agree that there's not a bad angle to the car. The boys in Highland Park hit it out of the stadium on this design.
The stance is just right;I might raise the front a wee bit-like 1 inch;no more-and the tires were the right choice. Now,as you can see,it's a little tight in back. Until I drive it,I won't know if they'll rub. If so,I'll have to get another $et of rear wheel$-OUCH! Those are 15X8,with a 4-1/4" b.s.;I've got plenty of clearance to the springs,so it's looking like 5" b.s. on the next set. Maybe they won't rub...
But...no driving her yet. The gf came out to water her plants, saw the puddle of ATF and said "Oh,that time of the month,eh?" :rolling:
She's been very supportive of my time working on the car,so I didn't give her any flack about it. She was smiling when she said it;she knows how I've fought the brakes and the trans and how bummed I am to not drive it yet. Soon,I hope...
I may just rebuild this trans, and put off the other engine and trans aspect until next year. I just want to EFFIN' DRIVE MY CAR!!!!!:cry::cry:
OK,rant over.
