Always used aircraft stripper saw a video and bought some Coopers
I will never bother with any other stripper ever again the mess the goo and the 1/2 azz job they do compared to Coopers. Now its pricey but works so much better IMO, Takes a bit to get coming from New Zealand
But I am doing the little pia places prior to painting and OMG do it take the paint off fast and much cleaner it sprays on like lacquer thinner soaks right through the paint and brakes the bond to metal
cleans up easy all the paint comes up in little chips and no goo
You spray it on and keep the area wet sometimes spraying it a few times walking away and then respray then scrape or brush off and clean with their cleaner took it down to metal in a few minutes

website says free DHL shipping. $263 for just over a gallon

Yeah they took some ingredients out of the original aircraft stripper. What you buy now doesn't work very well.

I edited my post. Google tricked me into looking at Klean-Strip instead of Coopers. KS has been watered down.

You want something with methylene chloride in it (aka dichloromethane). It causes cancer

Q: What happened to my favorite Aircraft product? It isn't the same!

A: On March 15, 2019, the EPA issued a final rule to ban methylene chloride (MeChl) in paint removers, with November 22, 2019, being the last date MeChl-containing removers can be sold.Jul 23, 2020

I used aircraft stripper a few months ago....... I put plastic on top of it and let sit, the plastic keeps it from drying.............it removed one repaint, and original paint down to the metal

The fumes are heavier than air and they are nasty. I bought new stuff and was confused. I thought the paint must have been tough. The FS website says to sand with 80-180 to open the paint.
We should have a Thread: "Surviving your first restoration". There are repair jobs and materials that are dangerous to kids and pets.

FYI if it's dangerous to kids and pets then it's not any good for adults either.

Wear your personal protective equipment.

Don’t breath it either

Some sort of lemon- gin ?

Edit- sorry read the title wrong it says paint

The main reason they banned methylene chloride was that it was being used to strip bath inserts, and in such a small enclosed area workers died. It wasn't about the long-term exposure but that the fumes are heavier than air and can kill without proper ventilation. Used properly it's safe. You can still buy straight methylene chloride. Also it will eat through all gloves except Silver Shields.
