Please check my 383 build. Does it work together?

1-Normal sized TR, 2-3.55 or 3.91 gears, 3-3000 stall convertor. You don't have a huge cam in it to warrant a silly torque convertor. Try #1 and #2 first.

Lower gears and higher stall convertor will wake it up.

3.55 if you drive on open roads around 55 to 65 mph, 3.9 or 4.11 if you just want real burn out power and don't drive over 45 or 50 mph. On the stall convertor I would say you are about right, but I only have 4 speed cars, so I would say talk to somebody who has more experience. I have had a 383 before and it seems that it had pretty good power once you got it revd up.

If you want to buy a "loose" over the counter, cheaper 10"-11"one size fits all convertor a 2500 works good w 3.23- 3.55. 2500- 3000 stall with 3.90- 4.10s. Some guys can run a 3500 w 4.10s and a short tire. If you buy a loose 4000 stall it is pretty much for drag racing.

If you want a better convertor a 9 1/2" can work with most any gear and stall around 4000. We currently run three 9 1/2" convertor. You can buy a FTI from summit. We have one, it is a 3500 running 3.23s. I think it may be a good fit, but I will know more soon. We have to get more miles on it. Shops can also set up other sizes tight. The 9 1/2 size seems to work great on the street. I love our custom 9 1/2 from dynamic...it stalls at 4300 behind a 510. I think it would still drive good w 3.55s.
I also agree Fix the intake first.

What balancer and timing mark are you using. Could the balancer ring have slipped on the hub?
