So while trying to get all my ducks in a row to figure out what is going on with this 340. I ran across a bit of info that may or may not be correct. The stamping on the block below the left head reads MH340R 38480155. Last night I read that motors after 39118000 got the cast crank, before that it would have the forged crank. Is my information correct?

I know nothing as far as numbers. The 340 did get a change from the 72-73 model year.
My 72 340 Challenger had a steel crank.

As far as I know, ALL 340’s were forged cranks

Check the balancer, cast crank engines have a counter weight with “340 cast crank only” cast into it.
