OK I know its corny! But I have been back and forth on deciding whether to put a late computer aided 360 magnum and a aod trans in my 66 satellite. Got one last weekend and now am in the middle of wires and more wires. Got some good feedback here and one suggestion was F.A.S.T. who specialize in EFI and TBI but had no luck there. And some of these kits are real budget blowers. So far my wife hasnt complained about any of my expenditures but this would probably be the big one. So I will muddle on and take on the challenge of making the factory MOPAR computer work. But the reason I am writing is to thank those who replied and gave me some good clues as where to start. I have been an upholsterer for over 35 years and Convertibles and interiors dont phase me. But I need a challenge and I am sure i will get one here. Only thing left to do is get a hair cut and get it cut so short I cant possibly pull my hair out. Thanks and look forward to giving some updates as it progresses.

keep on it man - the factory 5.9L wiring isn't rocket science... just keep what you need and ditch the rest... i am currently making a harness for my 6.1L hemi and it is infinitely more difficult... I used the 5.9L computer to fuel inject a 440 before haha

I think the factory computer to be realitivly easy to use and hook up. Beside the sensors, the computer itself just needs a hot and ground to be turned on. Mounting the unit should really be the tuffest part of it all.

This swap is very worthy of your time and will be a small challenge to complete. Once you get everything in and fitted nice, the wire project ahead of you will just require time. Do it right and do it once. Soder and heat shrink wrap all of your connections.

As far as added HP to the set up, theres lots out there these days for the Magnum. Just tell'em you have a Magnum engine from whatever donor gave it up. All though, things like a super charger/turbo may be a bit harder than normal stuff.

OH, and I have to add, considering the modern engine and overdrive, you'll have a good mileage and powered car that doesn't smell of a rich condition and tuning pains of a carb set up.

Polywant a magnum

Well I took advantage of the long Memorial weekend as mine started Friday. I took the harness apart unwrapped it all and went online and purchased a Mitchell guide for this engine. From there traced labeled and removed wires. The harness I got was from a 99 Van and the motor was from a 2k. Very little difference except for the injector connectors. But the harness is complete and the only change I would make next time is to pull the harness from a pick up. The harness is longer . Also if you ever got anything from a wrecking yard they only know burn and clip. I dont think they own a wrench lol.
Any how with new motor mounts on after I drilled a new hole on the right side mount as the ears are reversed I installed the motor yesterday and now will move onto installing the trans. It looks like some modifications might be needed here.
But all the info I read from here is correct so far Thanks for responding. PJ

Dont forget to take and post pics - I would love to see this done - also it would be nice to post the harness diagram because most people around here are electronically challenged... might help someone down the road.

I will get some pics out soon . AS for the wiring harness I will need to get the car running to see for sure if I got it figured right. It seems simple but I am venturing into new territory and would be very unpopular if I gave the wrong info. Right now I am working on the dilemma on how to make the overdrive transmission and the trans tunnel work so I can retain the stock floor shifter. The frame support reinforcement is going to need to be reworked due to a clearance issue. And that is in the area that the brackets for the floor shifter attaches at. I have a couple of ideas and one is to cut side to side where the hump needs to be enlarged and then another cut from rear to front on the top center so all the cuts look like an < rear" H" front> and then spread it open till the transmission fits. Afterward I would fab some metal to fill the newly opened areas and finish it off to look like a stock hump. That was a brief description but hopefully you can see what I mean. Like I said I enjoy a challenge. PJ
