That sounds French. That isn't very comforting.

The ancient Egypt pharaohs (around 3100 BC) actually had slushies! Yup, they could make ice in the desert back then. At least two known and tested ways to do this existed back then. In either case the ice was transported in straw lined boxes to the pharaohs. Once there it was crushed up and the juice of various fruits was poured over the ice. They also used the ice to cool their wine.
Forget ice cream, I'll have a Phrozen Pharaoh !

Go back to 1873. The SS Atlantic (420 feet long) was a ocean liner of the White Star Line, and second ship of the Oceanic-class. The ship operated between Liverpool, United Kingdom, and New York City, United States. During the ship's 19th voyage, on 1 April 1873, she struck rocks and sank off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, killing at least 535 people.

Now for the mostly unknown:

Several newspapers reported that a body of one of the crew members was discovered to have been that of a woman disguised as a man. "She was about twenty or twenty-five years old and had served as a common sailor for three voyages, and her sex was never known until the body was washed ashore and prepared for burial. She is described as having been a great favorite with all her shipmates, and one of the crew, speaking of her, remarked: "I didn't know Bill was a woman. He used to take his grog as regular as any of us, and was always begging or stealing tobacco. He was a good fellow, though, and I am sorry he was a woman."

Go figure, this happened in 1873 mind you!!!

There are ancient ruins in the USA. Various sites. Examples in Illinois, and more recently discovered(and debated by doubters as "natural" the sage wall in Montana.
There are more ancient ruins buried in the Sahara. Some of it was destroyed by some knob decades ago that decided TNT was a valid archeological tool.
The Sahara itself used to be green, rivers existed and one of, if not the largest freshwater lakes on the planet was in the middle of Africa.

There is a US military base in the giant glacial snow pack on Greenland. The excavated it right into the ice and made an "underground base".
Nuclear power was used for the base.
When they decided to end the project, they just left it all there to be buried in the snow.
Camp Century.

John Boyd Dunlop

Scottish inventor

The first practical pneumatic tire was invented by John Boyd Dunlop, a Scottish veterinarian, in 1888. Dunlop developed the tire in the yard of his home in Belfast, Northern Ireland, specifically for his 10-year-old son Johnnie’s tricycle. He aimed to alleviate his son’s headaches caused by riding on rough pavements.
Dunlop’s design consisted of a rubber inner tube surrounded by a fabric casing, inflated with air to provide a cushioning effect. This innovation revolutionized the bicycle industry, which had grown rapidly after the introduction of the safety bicycle in 1885.
Although Dunlop’s initial patent was not for automobile tires, his design laid the foundation for the modern pneumatic tire used in vehicles today. His invention remains recognized as the first practical pneumatic tire, marking a significant milestone in the history of tire technology.

Guilty, 7 days to appeal, a further 7 days then execute.

Job done, money saved, problem solved.

Faster executions will result in many thinking twice before committing the crime.

That and tougher sentences on lesser crimes....and get rid of the soft Judges.
Giuseppe (joe) Zangara, who supposedly shot at FDR, and killed the mayor of Chicago instead, committed his crime on February 15, 1933. The mayor died on March 6th, of sepsis. After spending ten days on death row, Joe was executed on March 20, 1933, in Florida's electric chair, Ol Sparky.
There is a theory that Zangara really was a mafia-hired assasin, and Anton Cermak, the mayor, WAS the real target.
Zangara was short, standing on a rickety chair to shoot, and he was intentionally bumped by a woman standing next to him.
If Cermak wasnt the target, he was an unlucky sob.
