Price gougers study

I'm not the mean average guy for this discussion, no doubt. I've never had more than a couple
old Mopars at any given time and the list of those I've owned is relatively short - I tend to keep
one at a time and have fun with it.
That works just fine for me - it has always been a passion of mine, a hobby and that's it.

I never felt the need to get into making money off it; I don't have a stash of parts that I didn't
need for whatever car I was fixing up at the time.
I'm like some of the others I've read who say "if I got it and someone needs it for their car,
that's fine - they can have it, I'm not using it".

Oh - and I bet I have a whole bunch less $$$ in Fred than a lot of folks do for similar condition
cars to him. I hunt bargains very well, research hell out of whatever I'm after and dig until I find
an acceptable one at an acceptable price.
Frugal because I have to be - but the car has never broken me and we eat ok around here. :)

I don't have a car cemetery in my backyard and don't care who does. I'm with you, Well said!! My last build, I sold to a friend, he was begging me to stop. I made him leave with more parts and stuff related to that car than he had room for. I told him if you get it, you get it all. Two car haulers and two 4 door pickups FULL. He told me, up front, that he was going to either give or sell what was left that he didn't need. He phoned and told me he owed me money and that two other cars were helped to the finish line. I look back now and it's more than I could have hoped for, a good home for a car that will forever leave a mark on me. No one owes me anything.....

yes indeed , prices sure gone up …..

I got a question, sort of related but maybe not... for you guys that were around when this ad was new.

Did the dealers actually stick to the sticker price(msrp) when they sold these special editions?
When I was a younger man, in the 1990's, the "last" Firebird/Camaro in the late 90's was coming out, and dealers took a car with $24k MSRP and slapped a $40k sticker on there. Obviously recent times has similar shady practices going on.

Just wondering if that started back in the muscle car days or if it was market driven in more recent times.

Here's a different one:

Factory Sticker: $4,925
Dealer sale price: $4,095

440 six pac, 4 speed, trac pac, disc brakes, Tach, Hood pins, vinyl top,
F60X15RWL.
VIN: RM23V0E166151

I hope they hold on too long...... and the repop comes out....... greedy bastards
I agree,
There is an ad on this forum right now...the seller is stating how his '70 Charger fenders are not the beat up, overpriced junk you see on ebay.
Then he lists a $5000 price for a pair of fenders that are NOT paint ready by any measure.
I would LOVE to see that guy's face when AMD releases fenders for $800 each.
They won't....but I'd love to see his greedy smile turn upside down if they did.

Chargers are red hot..... I can't believe the demand for 70 fenders is less than lets say, 69 Road Runner fenders.......

not long ago, guys were piecing together 66, 67 Plymouth B quarter panels; then bam, they are available..... nice stuff, too

SpeedKore had carbon fiber '70 fenders listed a few years back...Something like $3500 each if I recall....

I tried to get AMD to make them, and offered up a pair of Texas fenders I had to template them from, all I could get them to make was the front valence pan, I loaned them my NOS one to template it from.

The dude obviously hasn't seen this thread.

I have commented in sales ads and been spanked for doing so. It is SO tempting to respond to the delusional sellers and takes a LOT of restraint to refrain from doing so.

Thanks for not responding. One response fuels another and pretty soon the whole clan is going off on the guy. Just scroll on by! (and laugh)

Your restraint is duly noted.
