Price gougers study

I .looked at those Charger fenders and I wouldn't pay $2500 a piece for them. $2500 for the pair is more realistic. I recently bought a pair of 68 Charger fenders and a hood for $1500, and a pair of 69 Charger fenders for $1000 in about the same condition. I know that AMD makes 68 and 69 fenders and 70 fenders are not being reproduced, but 5 grand is gouging pretty deep! I paid $550 for a decent 70 right front fender about two years ago. I buy up fenders whenever I see them and can usually find them for fair money.

silly question...... not

how hard would it be to attach the front of a junk 70 fender to a AMD 69 fender?

or are there other differences I'm unaware of?

believe it or not, I have yet to work on a Charger

It's doable, but it would be a lot of work. You would need from the middle of the wheel opening forward to be usable on the 70 fender and splice the two together.

Maybe we need a separate thread about hoarding. (VBG)

There was another member who had a pair of better 70 Charger fenders on here recently and he started at around six grand for them, last time I saw them on here was at $3500 asking price for the pair. I am guessing that they sold for around 3k for the pair. They were advised for several years on this and other Mopar sites before finally selling recently.

I have seven second generation Chargers. I only have one extra pair of 70 fenders on the shelf in case one of the four 70 Chargers gets hit. I have no spares for the two 69 Chargers, and a spare pair for the 68 Charger. I really need to put a pair of 69 fenders on the shelf as well as another pair of 70 fenders, but I am not paying 5k for a pair. I have five 71 Chargers and I have a left fender and two rights,so I could use one more left fender for those. I have a 73 Charger and I have a spare right fender and no left fender in stock,so I can use one of those as well. I wait until I catch a deal on them and pounce on them when they surface.

Good idea to have spares. You never know when a deer or a dummy on their phone jumps out in front of you.

I try to keep crash parts on the shelf whenever possible. If they end up getting used on a build or because of an accident, I try to replace them whenever possible. Accidents happen, I had to put a driver's side fender ,bumper, grille and valence on my convertible Charger after it was finished because of an accident, luckily we still had enough of the original paint mix to touch it up.

Here's a perfect example. Good thing Rick had extra parts in the garage. 2 weeks later he was at the car show and looking good. Damn deer!

Price gougers are the shipping companies. It's impossible to sell a part these days when you need to ship it, no matter what you charge for the part itself.

So true. I recently bought a new set of side pipes for my 66 Corvette. If shipped fully assembled and welded, shipping cost was estimated at $275! By not welding where the header pipe straightens to weld into the chambered pipe core, and instead substituting a slip fit/clamp connection (which could also be welded) and a correspondingly smaller box it was still $80! I know the shipping on a complete Accurate exhaust system is at least as bad as the $275.
