prices on paint, do I buy it all now?

Prices keep going up on paint. Would you buy all your paint now? I have my epoxy primer/omni mp170. Going 2 stage. It will be next year before top coat. Would you wait till you need it or buy it now. Just trying to stay ahead of the game. Thanks Dave

I've used thirty year old paint with no issues... As long as you have all the proper reducer/hardener/activator chemicals... Cause most of that stuff gets discontinued & the new chemicals may or may not be compatible....

Storage depends on temp and humidity. Hardener is the first to go bad. Paint lasts a long time if the can is sealed well and stored inside the house or a climate controlled environment.

Your going to need access to a paint shaker if you wait a year.
Your primer/sealer and color will settle out the solids.
Will it last a year if stored right ? Yes.
I would wait though. Many times that one year turns into 2 or 3.

I agree on the paint lasting years with proper,dry storage. At my uncles body shop all paint cans are stored upside down to aid in sealing. He also has a shaker & I dont ever remember any paint going bad. He always saved ANY leftovers just-in-case... He had a lota paint for small projects & side jobs if color wasn't particular...

I keep my paint supplies in a refrigerator in the garage and I have some 30 year old lacquer that takes a lot of stirring but is still good. I’m hoping it lengthens hardener and reducer life.

Availability is another possible concern. My local painter just told me one of the formula ingredients he used in one of my paints, is no longer available, along with continually rising prices, so consider the purchase as so many good storage methods have been shared...
