project R/T

The answer would be very carefully and slowly , as not to heat the glass. They do explode ,trust me amateur mistake once wasn't even welding to the part the glass was mounted to it was just very close and boom! I'll never do that agen .
Buy the way sweet car .deff loose the wing doesn't do anything for me on that style car .
A car like that doesn't need a wing it's drop dead gorgeous without. Good luck on your welding it looks good so far from here .
Thanks for your warning about the glass breaking. I did tac it slowly around the perimeter.

Well guys I'm going to have to put the rest of my repairs on hold for a while. I ordered the carpet so I can put the interior back in and make the car drivable again. I received a text from the landlord that he was having marital problems and would be moving back into his dads house, where we now live. He's giving us 30 days or so to move. So we are not going to have much time or choices. Thanks for all the great posts and motivation. Ken

I believe he has to give you 3 months notice. Call your local tenancy branch and get the info. Tell him to pound sand on the 30 days and not to make his problem your problem.

carpet is next

Thanks for your advice superfreak, but we were already in the process of finding another house to lease because this one doesn't have a full garage. We were able to find one not far from here with a two car garage and will be moving the first weekend next month.
I'm finishing up a few little things to get ready to move the R/T. I degreased washed and painted the floorboards because I recieved the carpet I ordered. Now i need a few more coats of sanding primer to finish the sail panels.

door jam repair

One more thing to do before I am able to put the carpet in. I don't want to burn it so I'm fixing the jam that the door hinge mounts to. I rebuilt the inner and outer parts of the lower hinge mount, it took me 4 hours to complete. Now I need to remount the door. Here are some pictures.

carpet installed today

I installed the new carpet tonight I bought from rock auto. Its from Auto Custom Carpets. I didn't get to clean up the seats as I am on a time crunch with the move in two weeks. I don't think I'm going to put the consol back in as it needs some work. I'll probably need to get another shifter because mine doesn't have a cover. If anyone has a rachet shifter that works with a reverse pattern manual valve body I'll be looking for one in a couple of weeks, PM me.
Here are a few pictures.

What are those seats out of? I am not a fan of high backs in pre 70 Cars but you got to take what you can find.

I'm not sure, I think they might be 73 cuda or 69 charger. They have a tilt feature that I haven't seen before. I really can't remember where I got them from, old age setting in I guess. Lol.

RT that's a good looking project there. Nice carpet and the bodywork looks great. Nobody liked my wing proposal either. lol. Too bad u have to move but hey, a two car garage, that's cool. Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming...

Looking good. Carpet sure changes things up! Looks like a car again.
That driver seat looks to be a 6 way adjustable. I'll eventually be needing one of those, but the last set of tracks with no seat I saw was very expensive. With the hard back they are more likely 70-71 Cuda than 73.

ready for her new home

Well today I masked off the top half of the coronet, that's all I was able to get sanded so far with the move coming up in less than 10 days. I just wanted to seal the sanded part so I could reinstall the trunk, rear lites and bumper. I still need to make some adjustments to the trunk lid and rear bumper but it will do for the move. Here are some pictures.

finally home

I finally moved enough boxes around to get a picture of her in her new home. Still a whole other side to sort out but it's going pretty well. I was also looking at some leather pieces I saved so I can make a shifter boot for the new shifter I installed. Finished pictures coming soon.

shifter boot

Well I haven't had much free time lately to work on the R/T but I did adjust the trunk lid and cut out a basic shape for the shifter boot. I still need to tighten it up a little closer to the shifter, but I can drive it so not too worried about it now. Here's a picture.

dashpad recover and install

Worked on a dash pad I took from my parts car tonight. I recovered it with some leftover headliner material I had leftover. It was blue and my interior is red, I figured it would be easier than using vinyl to recover it. Here are pics of it installed.

Sail panel chrome

I haven't made much progress on Project R/T but I did just receive the sail panel chrome today that I bought from a member. Now I think I should look for the driver side drip rail chrome. The front piece is a little beat up. But I will double check.

Driver door disassembly

Today I took apart the driver door. I was just going to take the mirror door handle and key cylinder off but I remembered that I had picked up a set of window guides from a member awhile ago. Before I new it I had to disassemble pretty much the whole thing. So why stop with the glass? I have a door latch and lever for it too so off those came also. The door seems pretty lite With everything out of it. Now I can sand the door and jamb area. Does anybody know if there should be some plastic wrap over the guides?

Well I'm trying to burn the midnight oil. I pretty much have the driver side sanded and ready for primer but I'm not happy with the driver door lower rear corner. It looks like I repaired some rust with fiberglass previously. I think I'll see if I can use that part from the Belvidere door I have to make a patch panel. I'm not sure if the contures are exactly the same but I only need the lower corner. I pressure washed the inside of the doors in preparation for spraying some sound deadener. I am planning on putting some speakers in the doors and remaking the door panels as someone previously made replacementsand they aren't in great shape. I also installed the door latch and lever and painted the driver door jamb. I'm looking into the door seals and window wiskers for the door glass. I only need the front wiskers so if anyone has a lead on getting just the front please let me know. I emailed Super Soft but they won't sell just the front. Well that's it for tonight.
