Contract thru June - $2.00 Gallon

I just hooked up a Generac 24Kw this past summer. Getting to old to man handle the portable gen set and run all those extension cords just to have PARTIAL power, then have to put it all away again when the main power comes back on. The Generac got its FIRST usage on December 31st, 2024 when power went out for half the day. I didn't have to do anything, stayed in the house and stayed WARM, all automatic now. Man was that NICE!!!
i got one a few years ago very nice count to 5 and its back on

Since we're all electric out here, it's been a dream of mine to get a whole-house generator for years now.
Since the heat depends on the juice, it's what I fear more than anything - losing power, which our small
electric co-op does have a tendency to do.
To make matters worse, their computerized prioritization program always puts our little street on the back
end of re-establishing power once we lose it, too.
I am envious of you gents who have such a "Generac". Might I ask what cost is approximately?

Oh, P.S. - y'all make me grateful for our heat pump. A couple hundred bucks a month at worst; usually
half that in spring and fall.

mine was 11k installed plus you need a propane tank etc. you could check they may make diesel ones as an alternative, or natural gas it you have it in your area

I paid $1.449 per gallon for LP in August, that includes a .05 discount for summer fill, plus I get a .10 discount for owning the tanks. I’ve got 3 1000 gallon tanks that we used when we dried corn here. I go through about 400+ gallons heating the shop. The house is on natural gas. I hope to get a generac or Koehler generator hooked up sometime soon.

.......Might I ask what cost is approximately?
I spent about $6500 total on mine, I installed it myself, so there was a big savings there. Having someone else do the install usually at least doubles the cost.

I already had LP gas heat, so no additional cost for tank, etc.

woke up this morning cold as hell 58, been smelling a garbage smell, they put the rotten egg smell in the tank so when you can smell it, but since covid I got my smell back but things smell different than they used too. I'm on a keep full program so no emergency fill up charge. Tied into the existing line to the new shop and my old barn, keep them on 50 but I've been turning the shop up working out there everyday so here we busted out a couple electric pelonis heaters we had laying around and cracked the faucets to keep them from freezing. waiting for the big blue truck right now, they opened at 8am. called the emergency line at 610 this morning. It;s currently 3 degrees outside, great time to run out. :wetting:
need wood burner back up

When I bought my house , the propane tank in the yard was owned by Amerigas .
I came home late one evening and could see the gas leaking out of the pressure gauge . From the top of the tank it slowly rolled down the side where it met the electric fence that was arcing onot the tall weds covered in dew !
I called Amerigas immediately and told them to come out and resolve it now !
They came out and filled it instead and stuck me with a rather sizeable bill .
I called them back and clearly and calmly informed them their tank was now in the middle of a local highway and everyone could say who it belonged to.
Yeah ...they came and got it pretty quick .
We went back to belonging to a Farmers Co-Op. We buy in bulk in late May . Whatever we don't use gets sold and we get a rebate type of check . We normally elect to have the Co-Op keep the dividend and roll it over to next next years purchase .
We last bought propane ,roughly $1000 in November of 2023 . We currently still have a credit of $750 and are at about 40% with our 500 gallon tank .
We supplement our furnace with a wood stove that helps a great deal .
We will always be members of a Co-Op
