I am in the middle of putting the comp cam 509 292 hydraulic nostalgia cam in my 383..915 heads. I have a set of Harland sharp 1.6 roller rockers. Anyone have a suggestion for pushrod length. I am out of town so I have no idea there are 2 different lengths from comp cams

This being a newby to Mopar sucks lol.

The 2 push rod lengths for a big block Mopar are: one is for a low deck (361-400), thats the shorter one, the other one is for a raised deck (413-440).

I used the Mopar 509 cam (292 duration) in my 451 low deck with stock rocker gear. Used the stock 400 push rods. But I did shim the rocker arm shafts .040" to reduce the lifter pre load. It has worked fine for 3 years.

Now just off the top of my head the push rod length is 8.55. Or something close to that. I knew the 440 was a longer pushrod but to the deck being taller

Chad, Read up on Valve Train Geometry. You've had .010 taken off your heads and are going to use 1.6 rockers. Don't guess. To do this correctly you will need to check the pushrod length with a pushrod length checker and a long set of calipers. Once you have the correct, exact measurements, call a reputable firm such as Smith Bros. or Manton and get the correct length and wall thickness for your setup.

Something like this. http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performa...stable-Pushrod-Length-Checker/758609/10002/-1

hydraulic flat, solid flat and roller tappets all take a different length; even in their respective engine familys. so there can be 3 different lengths for a 383.

I was just trying to see if someone ran the same combo here so i could get an idea ..the push rods they sent me were 8.710 but that sure dont seem right i will have to wait until I get home to measure I guess..I just figured it might have been a generic set up..
