Pushbutton shifter question

ok so you have a handle underneath the buttons. something to grab onto that's what I couldn't wrap my brain around. You would have to have something to hold onto. Thank you DVW :) Floor mats went flying!

The reason I'm asking is when I launch and get thrown back into my bench seat, it's a little tough depressing the buttons hard enough where i'm missing my shift by about 200-300 rpm's.

Snaggle don't reply.

Move the seat a little closer to the controls if you cannot reach.

And I'm, real curious...what the hell is a Snaggle???

No handle. I just make sure I wrap my fingers against the dash bezel. Yes the amazing flying floor mat. I never noticed it on a run. It's amazing what you can learn through video.

The seat is as close as I can go w/o having my chest in the steering wheel.
Snaggle teeth is the guy who likes to trash all my threads with bufonery and won't stop
There are 2 different single pin neutral safety switches. The white plastic one and the steel one. One is longer than the other. The threaded portion of the switch can contact the rooster comb. Easy to see with the pan off. I never realized this until 2 years ago. Caused me a ton of grief. Note to "Blackburn" as far as racing with a push button, its no problem, S/S racer , my son and I all race and win with push button shifters. All of these cars run in the 8-9 second range.

I now am thinking the white NSS was the one I was using and not as long as the steel one.
The one in the trans I saw last night is the steel one and it is fairly stiffer.
I think I have another white NSS in my parts bin.
My other trans is in Connecticut now with the white NSS. Going to search for it today and try it.

Take a ride

How cool is this! Thanks for posting the video. Neat switch with the shifter from left to right. I got attracted to mopars and their pushbuttons one night back in '64 as my older cousin raced mopars winning many awards. He took me for a ride in his '64 Plymouth and went through the gears, it was awesome how quick the shifts were and hearing the tires break loose between shifts while stuck to the back of the seat. A friend installed a PB in his '69 427 Nova mounted at an angle between the seats...worked quite nicely at the strip.

I just pulled a nuetral safety switch out of my spare 65 dodge transmission, and its the white one. So I'm going to swap out switches and see if its any easier to push my buttons.

I respect the guys who run and use the push buttons as they are cool in the cars of that era. Myself I left the push buttons in my car but use a newer 1970 trans so I use a floor shifter. I build my own tranny's and it was cheaper to build the newer 1970 trans for my car and thats why I went that way. I would use the push buttons if I could but as far as I know they wont work with the newer trans and no one makes anything to make them work with the newer trans. But I do think its great that many of these guys use the push buttons. Ron

A place called Imperial Services did make an adapter to do exactly that, but I think the Obama-conomy took them out.......

The shifters that are mounted in the center of the car. I don't know who thought of this but you lose the whole appeal of the stock look. Call me old school but it looks ridiculous and that make shift box is just horrid IMHO.

Plus I told Snaggle to stay out of my thread and he just ruined the whole mood.
