Guys and Gals,

I need just a moment to complain about the weather (I am in PA).

First, we have a polar vortex that REALLY freezes everything up. Then yesterday and today, we get buckets of rain and very warm weather!

My Road Runner is in the garage in order to stay dry and out of the elements. When I was working on it today, it was as if it had been dunked in a pool! EVERYTHING was wet from condensation!

What the heck is with the weather? Please give me a NORMAL winter, thank you very much...

OK. I'll quit whining and get back to work now...:toothy2:

I know how you feel . . . had exactly the same weather down here in NC too . . . thought I was going to have to build a ARK today to survive ! !

That's happened to me a few times when it was cold for a long stretch and then rapidly warmed up with high humidity. I've had to squeegee the water out of the garage to try to dry it out. Can't be too good for the 'ol Plymouth.

Same here in Canada ,i installed a ceiling fan ,plus i have a fan on the floor to move the air around, seems to help

Damn good idea! I actually have a fan above the lift to help move air around on those hot humid summer days - now might be a good time to put it on!

Thanks for the suggestion! :headbang:

We had that weather blow through here on Saturday night. Buckets of rain! As I type this, I have the wet-dry vac sucking up a puddle of water in the basement.

On to your dilema:

You definately need to have heat & a dehumidifier in your garage. When you get a warm spell in the middle of winter, do not open the garage door as everything inside will instantly condensate. However, if your garage is not insulated & finished, you're screwed.

IF..your concrete does not have a moisture barrier when poured..then park on a tarp..this helps prevent condensation and also a breathable car cover will provide enough insulation to keep condensation at bay..we experienced the very same conditions here...got one car in the barn that has a bare roof...it is covered and did not get any condensation but the rest of the body looked like it just came in out of the rain...

this happens every so often..I think I have traced it to the fact that it is only when I have a roof stripped to bare metal..last time I found my 47 Plymouth soaked with water on bare metal...quick move into the shop to take care of things...so maybe it is my fault..

I agree, horrible winter. Near -60 Windchills the first few days of the week, then freezing rain/ice at the end of the week. Go from freezing your *** off to falling and busting it. Below zero again come the end of the week. I'd like to sock mother nature right in the mouth. This crap is just getting cruel.

don't know your garage situation but I am a HUGE believer in dehumidifiers. You can't win against the awesomeness of God and the weather however; you can at least manage your garage world a bit. Might want to look into a good dehumidifier if the space is sealed well it helps in the heavy mid-America summer as well as the transitional times mid-winter. IMO...

My garage is insulated drywalled and heated.did not have a moisture problem here, but a couple months ago I had to store it in my brother inlaws pole barn for a week and when I pulled it out into the sun everything condensed, moisture on everything.that was the 1st time that car has seen below 50 degrees since I have owned it.

had same thing happen so I turned on the heat and was gone in about 10 minutes

Having the same BS weather as well, my garage does the same thing but I finally got a dehumidifier "will never be without one now". I'm with you guys, I wish when winter came it would stay 32 or below "no thawing, rain or mud".

Same crap weather here. Lots of snow, deep freeze then buckets of rain. Found out tonight that my garage is flooded. All the melted snow plus rain water drained back into the garage and the drain was plugged. Been sick this weekend so hopefully I will feel better so I can solve this issue.

Same place, same problem.. Would love the same solution! :)

Looks like many of us are dealing with the same crap.

I would love to eventually insulate and heat/dehumidify my garage. At the moment, there is so much airflow through my garage (soffets through ridge vent) that any heating, dehumidification or cooling just goes right out - I'm basically wasting my money.

Of course, insulating and installing heating in my garage takes money, and right now I am going to squeeze every cent I can into the restoration of my Road Runner. (Priorities!!!)

Afterwards, maybe I can pony up some time and money to improve the garage!

Know the feeling, good luck
