Well, as the title states, I have relearned a lesson again. Went to a swap meet not too long ago and bought a few things from a guy who seemed to be somewhat honest. One of those things being a new set of valve springs which he said were for a BB mopar. I wasn't really too sure if I was going to actually use them, probably was going to buy a new set depending on what cam I get, but he was selling them for a good price, so I said, why not. Can't have too much stuff piled in my garage or living room.

Well, I take them into work today just to verify that they are what he said they were and what the box said. After measuring the OD and ID, nope, they are not. Apparently he or someone else at sometime had swapped boxes, because these are definitely not for any mopar engine. They still have value and I should have no problem getting my money back out of them. Just kind of a principle thing. Kind of pissed, but at the same time, I guess what can you expect at a swap meet. Just had to vent that out there.

Been there done that too, had mostly all good dealings with people at swap meets thou, but haven't been in a while either... good luck

Maybe he got them in a parts swap and HE was told they were for a big block Mopar. Or he is an idiot. Or a crook. We'll never know...

Guess I will need to start going to swap meets with micrometer in hand. And yes, it is very possible he had no clue either. They were in the right box, which I still think is strange why someone would do that. At least, I didn't pay too much for them I suppose.

I had it happen and have also busted a few sellers in the process. One good catch was the guy selling a disc brake swap for a Ford and my buddy was about to lay down the cash until I saw the tie rod end taper was all chewed up. We pretty much told the seller what he can do with his junk parts.
