I’m changing the reluctor and pickup in the dizzy. The new roll pin seems too small. It won’t fit tight in either the reluctor wheel or the slot in the shaft, although it seems to be not as bad in the shaft. Has anyone seen this and how did you deal with it?

They are a 'firm' fit. I fit the pin to the shaft first, & then tap on the reluctor.

The slot in the old reluctor is .089 and in the new one it’s .0975

How about a 3/32 drill bit 093 or a #41 096
Or become car #5 as Bob suggests

Are you saying the two slots in the reluctor are different sizes?
No for rotation LA or B/RB.. What brand distributor is it? Never had that with a oem one some china ones are meteric.

Ok, so the rotation is different for small block or big block? Didn’t know that. Always learning. Thus the two different facing directional arrows on the reluctor? Seems odd to me that it would matter. Isn’t the reluctor symmetrical?
Anyway I oriented the new one the same as the old one. It’s a mopar distributor. The box for the reluctor said made in USA. But the slot size between the old and the new was definitely different.
So the roll pin was the type with a slit in it, not the coiled type. I took a small chisel, put it in the slit and gave it a crack with a hammer to expand the pin a bit. Now I placed it in the shaft slot with the slit facing the shaft on the notion that the pin would measure slightly wider 90 edge each way from slit and would wedge tighter against the walls of the slot in the shaft and the reluctor. It seemed to work. I have it installed and it seems good but I haven’t run it yet. (This is on my Challenger). A buddy came by with his Hellcat so I fired up the Charger and away we went. I’ll try it tomorrow with the distributor cap off so I can watch it and hopefully I don’t end up gathering parts that flew everywhere.

0.0975" is very close to 2.5mm. Probably a Chinese dist using metric roll pins.

The slot with the arrow is CW for LA dist the other is B/RB CCW For the phasing in them
