Started installing disc brakes so I could figure out which torque thrust 2.1 will fit.Might as well install ball joints and bushings while I'm at it.The car is a 64 Plymouth convertible. Thanks in advance for any replies.I love this website and I check it almost every day.

Take the cotter pin out, loosen the nut so the threads are still covered, smack it with a hammer. Or use a pickle fork, either way will work and since your gonna replace the cal joints dont worry about messing them up.

Ball Joints

Hold the phone!! After your 64 is up on jackstands resting on the framerails; Unwind the Torsion bar bolts under the lower control arms to take ALL the suspension preload off the Torsion Bars before taking any ball joint nuts off. It's not safe to do otherwise. Then remove the cotter pins and castle nuts from the lower and upper ball joints. You will need a pickle fork tool and a heavy sledge hammer to force the ball joint away from the lower control arm tip and away from the top of the spindle. Don't use those cheap chinese made ball joints you get on the eBay or on the internet or you'll being doing this routine again soon. Use Moog or any other US made ball joints. Hope this helps.

I kinda thought all the safety issues would be known. But it's good to post them just in case.
